Dr. Allen then introduced Dr. Alexander Silverman, Professor of Chemistry, University of Pittsburgh, who addressed the meeting on "Glass: Today and Tomorrow."

The speaker described the history of glass making, present manufacturing methods, mirrors, case hardening glass, stresses and strains, glass cloth, and the art side of the industry.

His lecture was profusely illustrated both with lantern slides and experiments. A room with furniture and hangings all made of glass, recently displayed at the World's Fair in New York, was set up in the lecture hall, while a beautiful evening gown made of glass was displayed by a living model.

The meeting was adjourned with a rising vote of thanks to the lecturer, after which the audience spent some time in examining the interesting exhibits.
