Under the scheme stipends are provided to SC students at the rates i.e. Std. V to VIII Rs.

3575/- p.a. (Rs. 325/- p.m. for 11 months) for SC and for Std IX to X Rs. 4125/- p.a. (Rs. 375/-

p.m. for 11 months) for SC. Under the scheme Meritorious Scholarships scheme is to give

impetus to education for SC students by granting scholarships for their meritorious performance.

SC students who obtain 50% marks and above of marks in Std V to X are eligible to avail the

Std.V & VI –Rs.900/-p.a. Std VII & VIII –Rs.1000/-p.a. Std IX Rs.1100/-per annum Std.X–Rs.1600/-

p.a. Rs. 1,50,000/- income limit is fixed to avail the benefits under the scheme.

The total expenditure incurred during the year 2011-12 is Rs.12.34 lakhs, benefiting 111

students

iiii)) GGrraannttss ttoo VVoolluunnttaarryy OOrrggaanniizzaattiioonnss ffoorr rruunnnniinngg hhoosstteellss::--

The objective of the scheme is to give grant-in-aid to the voluntary social organizations,

which run hostels for SC students to enable them to pursue their studies away from their place

of residence

The total expenditure incurred during the year 2011-12 is Rs.6.00 lakhs, 02 institutions

The objective of the scheme is to provide books to educational institutions for SC

students.

The total expenditure incurred during the year 2011-12 is Rs.1.30 lakhs, benefiting 41

students.

22.. AAwwaarrddss ffoorr iinntteerr--ccaassttee mmaarrrriiaaggeess::--

The scheme envisages to have better relations, understanding and communal harmony

amongst the SC and Non-SC families by encouraging inter caste marriages. An award of Rs.1.00

lakh will be given per couple when either spouse belongs to the Scheduled Caste community.

The total expenditure incurred during the year 2011-12 is Rs.10.00 lakhs, benefiting 10

The scheme aims at providing maximum relief to SC population who has been suffering

from various types of disabilities/untouchabilities in the Society.

44.. PPoosstt MMaattrriicc SScchhoollaarrsshhiippss ttoo SSCC ssttuuddeennttss::--

The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to SC students studying at

post matriculation or post secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. The rate

of maintenance allowance varies from Rs.230/- to Rs. 1200/- p.m for Post Matriculation level and

courses up to Degree and Post Graduation Level Courses.

The total expenditure incurred during the year 2011-12 is Rs.12.34 lakhs, benefiting 111

students

55.. UUpp--ggrraaddaattiioonn ooff MMeerriitt ttoo SSCC ssttuuddeennttss::

This is 100% Centrally Sponsored Scheme

The objective of the scheme is to provide remedial and special coaching to SC students

studying in Std IXth to XIIth with a view to prepare them for competitive Examination for entry into

Professional Courses. A package grant of Rs.15,000/- per student per year for a batch of 5

students each in Std IXth to XIIth inclusive of Rs.7,000/- per student, per year, as Honorarium to

Principal, Experts and other incidental charges.

66.. KKaannyyaa DDhhaann ffoorr SSCC ggiirrll SSttuuddeennttss::

With a view to avoid discontinuation of education among girl students of SC families and to

motivate them, the above scheme is introduced. In this scheme, Rs.25,000/- is placed in fixed

deposit in the name of the girl student, which can be withdrawn by her after passing Std. XIIth.

The Directorate of Social Welfare, as the Nodal Department along with 20 Other Sectoral

Departments is implementing the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan for the development and welfare of

Scheduled Castes and by earmarking funds in proportion to the Scheduled Caste population and

implements various welfare programmes for the benefit of Scheduled Caste population.

88.. FFiinnaanncciiaall aassssiissttaannccee ttoo VVeeggeettaabbllee,, FFlloowweerr,, CCooccoonnuutt VVeennddoorrss && MMoottoorrccyyccllee ((TTaaxxii)) aanndd

RRiicckksshhaaww ((TTaaxxii)) OOwwnneerr::

The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the Vegetable & Flower

vendors for the purpose of up-gradation of the existing business activities. The benefits of

assistance are also extended to Coconut Vendors. Under the scheme, each vendor is provided

assistance of Rs.5000/- in the form of 100% subsidy. This scheme is amended and amalgamated

with the scheme of providing financial assistance to Motorcycle (Taxi) and Rickshaw (Taxi)

Owner. The quantum of assistance provided is the same for both the schemes.

99.. RRaajjiivv AAwwaaaass YYoojjaannaa::

The quantum of assistance sanctioned is Rs.25,000/- for construction of a new house and

Rs.12,500/- for upgradation. Only urban cases are dealt by this Department and rural by the

Directorate of Panchayats.

1122.. Name of the scheme: - Dayanand Social Security Scheme

Under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme financial assistance is provided to the most

vulnerable section of the society, which includes Senior Citizens, Single Women and

Disabled persons. A beneficiary under the scheme gets financial assistance of Rs. 1,000/-

per month with effect from April 2007. The financial assistance goes to spouse and children

on death of the member.

1133.. FFiinnaanncciiaall AAssssiissttaannccee ttoo SSCC//OOBBCC//DDiissaabblleedd//MMiinnoorriittyy CCoommmmuunniittyy SSttuuddeennttss iinn NNuurrssiinngg CCoouurrsseess::

It is proposed to provide financial assistance to SC/OBC/Disabled/Minority Community

students undergoing Courses in Nursing:-

i. Home Nursing Course ( 6 months Course):

Rs. 5000/- per month will be provided as fees and for transportation charges, i.e. Rs.

30,000/- per annum.

Rs. 5,000/- per annum will be provided as assistance to the students undergoing the

Course.

It is proposed to provide Synthetic Water tanks to the families from SC/ST/OBC & Others
