State Level Science QuizCompetition-2017

The Science Wing of Directorate of Education conducted the StateLevel Science Quiz Competition 2017 for the Secondary and SeniorSecondary students with an objective to develop scientific awareness,attitude and curiosity etc. among students. The competition wasorganized in two phases for both the levels in which the 1st phase waswritten Screening test conducted on 2nd & 3rd November, 2017respectively from nine different zones to select the best four teams ineach level.

In the final rounds of Secondary Level Competition held in abefitting manner on 14th November, 2017. S. Harish and Manish Einstenof Carmel SSS, Port Blair bagged the Winner’s Trophy while the runnerstrophy was clinched by Arshraj Singh and Hamza of Khalsa Public School,Gurudwara Line, Port Blair. The team from Vivekananda KendraVidyalaya, Lamba Line and Navy Children School, Minnie Bay got the thirdand fourth places respectively. Dr. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy DirectorEducation (Science/Planning) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In hisaddress, he advised the students to have positive attitude and alsoencouraged the students.

In the final round of Senior Secondary State level Science Quizcompetition was held on 15th November, 2017. Shri Mammen Thomas,Principal (SIE)/DEO(S/A) was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Heappreciated and blessed the students and advised the students to keepthe spirit of winning with hard work and sincerity. In this category, theteam comprising of Karandeep Kaur and Drishya Brigson of Carmel SSS,Port Blair nagged the winner’s Trophy where as the runners trophy wastaken away by G. Hariharan Subbu and T. Kaartick of VivekanandaKendra Vidyalaya, Lamba Line, Port Blair. The team of MES, Azad Nagar,Steward Gunj and Nirmala SSS, Port Blair got the third and fourth placesrespectively.

The whole programme was coordinated and finally vote of thankswas proposed by Smti. Mariam Joy, Science Consultant.

OBM operator COC-Exam-2017 on Dec 9

In accordance with A&N IV Rules 2016, OBM operator COC-Exam-2017 is scheduled to be conducted on 09th Dec 2017.

All eligible candidates who fulfil the below mentioned criteria, mayapply for OBM Operator examination along with following documents tothe Chief Examiner, Port Management Board, Phoenix Bay, Port Blair onor before 27th Nov., 2017:

1. Photo ID Card (Aadhaar/PAN Card/Driving License/Voter ID etc.)2. High School or 10th Certificate/Marksheet or any other

educational qualification.3. Certificate of Proficiency as specified at serial No. iii, iv & vi of

the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria for certification of OBM Operator for Powerboats:-

i. A pass in 10th Std and shall be able to read and write inEnglish and Hindi.

ii. He should be not less than 18yrs of age.iii. In possession of valid Power Boat Handling (PBH) Certificate

from NIWS or its equivalent as acceptable to theAdministration and valid for Maximum 2 years.

iv. In possession of Life Saving Techniques (LST) Certificationfrom NIWS or its equivalent as acceptable to theAdministration.

v. Shall produce a medical certificate as to his physical fitness inForm No. 26.

vi. Must have successfully undergone a capsule coursecomprising of the topics mentioned below at DBRAIT, PortBlair or any organization/institute as decided by theAdministration.a. Rules of Roadb. Storm signal c. Navigation mark in Inland waters notified by the

Administration.d. Basics of First Aid, Life saving appliances and Fire fighting

appliancese. Communication

Note:- 1) All candidates must write their operational mobile number ande-mail id (in capital) on application.

2) Eligible candidates need to pay Rs. 2000/- towardsexamination fee.
