with an idea
Start
Learning code is actually not that hard.
Specially if you are learning it by building an app of what
you really like to code.
This post will show
how learning code can be fun.
Not intimidating as some people think it is.
This post will show
how we can turn your passion, your idea into
something that will help other people.
First, a little secret.
Creating apps does not start by coding.
It starts when
you have an idea that other people will find useful.
That will make their lives easier.
How do we do this?
Think about your passion.
What you're good at.
How your idea can help other people in their personal life
or in their work.
And then think about
how people will interact with your idea.
And will have fun using it.
Draw it
in a blank piece of paper.
Think how parts of your idea can be connected into one
system.
By designing it,
you can dwell into the details how your idea will work.
How your interface will look like, the step-by-step
processing involved and of course, the output. The
solution.
Coding
or putting that idea and its design to a working app, is
only the third step.
But it will be much easier
since you already designed
what you are going to program.
As an experienced coder,
more than half of my time
building a program is thinking about how to design and how
to build it.
Most development frameworks
even has prototyping tools to
make designing your apps easier.
Where you don’t even have to code
to create a working prototype
of the app you wanted to build.
You just drag and drop
the elements comprising your
interface based from the drawing you did a while ago.
You know how apps work.
These tools is a little bit more
harder to learn.
But with your experience using apps in your smartphone, I
think you can hack it.
Now that you’ve designed
the app you’ll going to build, the next step is learning to
code it.
Come on. It’s coding
we’re talking about here.
Rome wasn’t build in a day.
AboutMeAs a software developer, I have always been interested in learning new things regarding technology. In how I can share what I’ve learned specially to others with professions outside my field.
This interest became a passion as I see a lot of people using technology in their daily lives but have no idea how it works. Much less how it was build. Sadly, almost all of us are mere consumers.
My previous blogs and those to follow will try to convince everybody, in my own small way, to learn how to code. How to become creators of technology.
Don’t worry, grasshopper. Future posts will continue
where we ended here.
But with more details.
Don’t worry, grasshopper.
