The homes of Billy Neal, Frank Cotton and Paul French were left without telephone serv- ice. A parakeet sitting on top of his cage which was hanging from the ceiling in the Paul French home, was knocked to the floor when the bolt of lightning hit. During the storm on May 8th which crossed this part of the country, lightning set fire to the prairie on the Tom Neal ranch. Several ranchers arrived in time to put it out and only a small amount of ground was burned. Four inches of rain has fallen in six days, so this has aided in keeping down prairie fires started by lightning.
