History Staples was founded in 1986 by Thomas G. Stemberg
He was working on a proposal for a different business and he needed a ribbon for his printer but the local dealer was closed for independence day. His frustration and his background in the grocery business led his vision for the office supply super store.
The first store was opened in outside of Boston in 1986
In 1991, Staples founded its Canadian subsidiary, The Business Depot, and began opening stores under that name, though over a decade later, all stores were renamed as "Staples."
History 1996 staples became one of fortune 500 companies to surpass 3 billion in sales
Staples and office depot announced plans for merger but were stopped by the Federal Trade Commission due to fear of the super powers raising Prices for office supplies.
1998 staples acquire its naming rights for Staples Center in Los Angeles
2001 staples its E- commerce website to all its subsidiaries across the world
2004 staples expanded to Austria and Denmark
2007 staples open its first store in india

Staples Production Center The staples production centers are a close production facility which are part
of a staple store but it is closed to the main public.
Its customers are staples copy center.
The Staples production center also known as the hub, provides services to the copy center.
It Consist of about 12 employees and its 24 hrs Monday to Friday. It is also opened in the weekends from 9 to 6 pm on Saturdays and 11 to 6 pm on Sundays

The biggest consumer electronics outlet in the US is Best buy. The company operates more than 1,400 stores throughout the US and Canada, and another 2,600 stores in Europe and China, mostly under the Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile, and The Car Phone Warehouse banners. The stores sell a wide variety of electronic gadgets, movies, music, computers, and appliances. In addition to selling products, Best Buy offers installation and maintenance services, technical support, and subscriptions for cell phone and Internet services. As the dominant consumer electronics chain in the US, following the demise of rival Circuit City, Best Buy is looking abroad for growth. In 2011 Best Buy announced plans to sell Napster to Rhapsody.
Analysis Weakness: Staples Needs to improve their communication between the
production center and the copy center. Some times the Job Tickets are submitted lacking information.
Strength: Staples is a print on the spot place where customer have a quicker turn around time. It is way faster than offset because there is no make ready. It also has self service Machines.
