Application of ASFV eradication Plan of

2012 for regular pigs and wild boar

• All swine farms are going to be controlled for clinical, anagraphic

registrations;

• The serological controls will be made in farms which are in

restriction zone or in wild boar positive Areas, in qualified herds, in

not qualified herds before transport to slaughterhouse, in the

slaughtering for family use.

• Wild boar are going to be controlled at least n. 59 in not infected

Area and n. 96 in infected areas (32 Areas= 17 non infected + 15

infected Areas). This year information to hunters is publicized on the

Hunting Official Calendar, too.

• In case of positivity are carried out the provisions of Directive

2002/60.

Control activities in the 2012

• Total herds, 15.661; Controlled herds 3329 (21.26 %)

– 1275 herds was controlled clinically and serologically;

– 2.054 herds was controlled clinically in surveillance zone.

• The Local Veterinary Authority have to put the data

Application of ASFV eradication Plan of

2012 for irregular pigs• In Seulo (prov. CA) the Veterinary Local

Authority with Corp of foresters has identify

three group of irregular pigs and, in accord with

protocol of DAIS N. 30/2012 (n. 17 pigs are

been killed and destroyed locally at 03 april

2012).

• In Irgoli (prov. NU) the Veterinary Local

Authority with Corp of Foresters has detected 2

pigs that were killed and destroyed at

19.04.2012

• In Aritzo (prov. NU) the Veterinary Local

Authority with Corp of Foresters has detected a

group of 31 pigs that were killed and destroyed

at 04.07.2012.

Audit of Regional Authority in accord to Reg. 882/2004

• On 11, 12 and 13 June 2012 Regional Prevention

Department has carried out a Audit for ASFV in the

Province of Sassari (ASL N. 1), in the Province of

Nuoro (ASL N. 3) and in the Province of Ogliastra

(ASL N. 4).

ISS and Ministero della Salute, has produced 12

Recommendations and 6 Observations.

Improvement of measures of control in

Airports and Ports

Has begun a program for increasing and improving the Signs that inform the

travelers about the NO TRANSPORT SWINE PRODUCTS;

The Local Veterinary Authority control every week the Airports and Ports and

hold the education of the personal employed to the control of travelers

about the NO TRANSPORT SWINE PRODUCTS.

The Regional Veterinary Authority is in touch with The Airport/Port

/Directions for support the information brochures’s distribution and vocal

spots’transimssion.

Verify of efficacy about official

controls done in swine herds• Region Sardinia has published at 28aug2012 the

Determination n. 1082 about N. 61 Audit (EC Regulation No.

882/2004) to verify the efficacy of controls carried out by the

Territorial Veterinary Services. Auditors are veterinarian who

works in another Province (ASL). The Audits will be held from

• For improvement the quality of controls, Region Sardinia is

collecting the Action’s Plans for n. 12 recommendations and

n. 5 observations given in a Audit about PSA held on 11, 12

and 13 June 2012 (pursuant to art. 4, paragraph 6 of EC Regulation No. 882/2004).
