Greenhouse Gas Emissions

From 2002 through 2019, we reduced our global GHG intensity by 50%.

Green Energy

In 2019, we procured 225 million kWh in green power, through on-site generation and renewable energycertificates.

Each year, we are meeting more of our energy needs with clean energy.

Philanthropy & Community

• In 2019, Johnson Controls’ donated over $10 million and our employees donated over $3.5 million.

• Since Blue Sky Involve launched in 2006, our employees have volunteered 1.7 million hours.

Energy Retrofits

Performance Contracting projects have generated energy savings of $6.3 billion and reduced CO2 emissions by 29.4 million metric tons since 2000.

Sustainable Technology

• YZ chillers offer 35% better efficiencythan conventional centrifugal chillers.

• The GLAS smart thermostat monitors and reports indoor and outdoor air qualityincluding carbon dioxide.

• 19 of our plants have been certified as Zero Landfill.

• Overall our plants divert 80% of non-hazardous waste.

Energy Efficiency

• From 2002 through 2019, doubled the energy productivity of our plants.

• Cut our global energy intensity by more than half over 12 years.
