Mission
Proposed Mission & Vision of Advisory Committee *This will be presented and voted upon at our Spring Advisory Committee meeting in 2013. Advisory Board Mission To create a collaborative partnership between local industry and educators that will allow the preparation of college and career ready students. Advisory Board Philosophy We believe local community members have much to offer the students and faculty of Howard High School. The CTAE department will benefit from the perspective of local business leaders and post-secondary educators. These local leaders can ensure that the curriculum and instruction followed in the department meet current industry standards and needs. Because of this, all advisory board members are encouraged to participate in classrooms and clubs at Howard High.

HOWARD HIGH SCHOOL ADVISORY BOARD FALL MEETING MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 23, 2010
CALL TO ORDER Mr. Adams called the meeting to order, and welcomed everyone.
MINUTES This was the first meeting of the year. There were no minutes to approve.
REPORTS There were no committee reports to share.
NEW BUSINESS Role of Advisory Board Members ‐ Mrs. Collier explained items in our folders. She asked all members of the advisory board to complete the information sheet and return it before they leave today. All members were given a list of other members with contact information as well as a list of our pathways.
Board Chair Nominations – Mr. Chad Yats volunteered to serve in this capacity. The nominations were closed, and members voted to accept Mr. Yats’ nomination.
Mrs. Collier shared some of our goals this year: • get students work ready • increase the number of pathway completers • job shadowing during February (CTSO Month)
Work‐based Learning ‐ Mrs. Olsen discussed our use of Keytrain and the Workkeys test to be taken in the Spring. Howard had the highest scores of all Bibb County high schools last year. Industry Certification‐Marketing ‐ She discussed the process of industry certification. People from the state departments come in an score our programs to make sure that we are preparing our students for the world of work. Student present before people from the DOE as well as industry representatives during the process. All pathways will eventually go through the industry certification process. The county is on a five‐year plan for all departments at all high schools. Industry Certification‐Graphics – Certified by the GARA. Making sure that the curriculum taught is relevant to the work force. Teaching Pathway/Future Educators of America‐ Mrs. Little discussed the pathway of teaching and described what is done in each of the three classes. She then talked about our new club – FEA and made a plea for the $115 charter fee. This was offered by one of the advisory members, Lynne Weeks of US Advertising. Robotics Team – Mr. Finkelstein discussed our robotics team. He went through a slide show of pictures from the competition in Atlanta last year. There were 40 teams at the competition. He requested mentors for the team. He specifically needs people in programming, marketing, engineering, rule
compliance, etc. He asked for members who would like to take some of the information to others they know.
The Interview Job Fair – We will teach our students about the interview process, from resumes to cover letters. After this, we want to provide all of those students with a chance to go through a mock interview. We really need people to come and be interviewers. The tentative dates for this are February 14‐18, 2011. Our long‐range goal is to do this once a semester in the future. We are preparing them for the workforce through our classes, but this can also help them with college admissions interviews. Please turn the forms in to Mrs. Terry before leaving. Other members who are interested in interviewing may contact Laura Terry at [email protected]. Lunch will be provided for all interviewers. Please volunteer for any amount of time, no matter how small. ANNOUNCEMENTS Dr. Washington thanked everyone for coming to the meeting and for their commitment to helping our students.

NEW BUSINESS Pathways – discussed with respective members: Steve Neil and Accounting pathway, Susan Little and Teaching pathway, and Belinda Collier involved in multiple pathways. FBLA Update – Talked about Delaney Doolittle going to National Competition. Also showed board of competitors for this year’s competitions. Talked about partnership with DECA this year and the CTSO
Rally held in September. Discussed setting up at panel for competitors to face judges before the real competition. Will follow up at the end of the calendar year. Career/Pathway Program – discussed the careers unit to be covered with all 9th graders in Computer Applications. Talked about how important career development is at Howard. COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS Ms. Smith asked when we will switch over to Office 2010 in our Computer Apps classes due to the fact that it is going to be offered at the technical college. She was told that a lot of the decisions are based around budgets and there is no indication that it will be happening in the near future. Also mentioned that some schools are still teaching Office 2003. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Neil adjourned the meeting.

NEW BUSINESS Pathways/Program content/curriculum/courses – Discussed role of advisory board and opportunities for students. Ms. Gunn talked about the Interactive media pathway and what types of lessons students complete. She also discussed the different software we use in Bibb County for web design classes. The board suggested we also consider using Gimp, ColdFusion, and HTML 5. Ms. Kinnery offered to come be a guest speaker for the web design class, and offered to allow students to job shadow her as well. Mr. Finkelstein discussed the Programming pathway. He handed out standards for beginning and intermediate programming to those present and discussed the end of pathway test that Bibb County is requiring students to take. We discussed the challenges of getting students prepared for the test which would include knowledge of Java, C++, and Visual Basic. He also discussed with Dr. Allen the possibility of auditing his Mercer Introduction to Java Class. COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS No recommendations were made. ADJOURNMENT

CALL TO ORDER Chad Yats, Advisory Board Chairperson called the meeting to order, then Mr. Adams welcomed everyone.

REPORTS Student Organizations each made presentations.
DECA‐Alex Johnson, Alexis Collier, and Deborah Howard – bell ringing and other community service activities, 84 members (largest in county); 13 state qualifiers (first in county); Deborah is running for State VP of Competitive Events FBLA‐ Danielle Lasker, Tamiya Morgan, Tia Smith, Tesia Smith – fundraisers for state competitions; community service events; region competition – 39 members qualified for state competitions; social outings each month FCCLA – Mecca Zaidi – not in meeting; working on refreshments FEA‐ Jessica Castille – first year of existence; 15 members; community service projects at Springdale Elementary; fundraiser (MatchMaker) Robotics – Munib Khan – showed us the video from the news last night; robot must be shipped by Tuesday, they are almost done with it, just some finishing touches to add Skills USA‐ Deborah Howard, Adrian Broadnax – attended STORM, dare to wear red day, region V competition – Deborah placed 1st, Stephanie Dunbar placed 2nd, so they will both advance to state next month. NEW BUSINESS CTI ‐ Laura Terry, CTI Coordinator – She goes into all of our CTAE classes to work with PEC students who might need that extra push to make sure they are getting the attention they need.
Work‐based Learning/Industry Certification ‐ Leigh Olsen – She wants to put her students to work at all
places of employment. If you have positions that may relate to what students want to be when they
grow up, she needs to know so that she can arrange to have students placed with you.
Marketing has now passed their Industry Certification. Our students were phenomenal in their presentations to the DOE, AMA, and other stakeholders.
Speaker ‐ Chad Yats, Office Depot, Territory Dev. Manager – Background on who he is – 4 kids (11, 8, 5,
2); his kids go to school in this system, so he feels he should be a part of making it a better place. The
unemployment rate is really high right now, so starting or continuing a career is really hard right now –
often our kids are told they can't do it– it's not true—they can do it. It may just mean they have to work
a bit harder. Why is he here? There is so much negative around, and he has an opportunity to make
things better. He feels like all advisory members have a chance to do the same thing.
ANNOUNCEMENTS Belinda Collier, Advisory Committee Coordinator presented a plaque and thank you to Mr. Yats as Advisory Board Chairperson and as our guest speaker for today. Dr. Cassandra Washington, CTAE Supervisor – She thanked everyone for coming. Also, she thanked our teachers for going above and beyond the call of duty. Congratulations to DECA and FBLA on such strong showings at their Region competitions. Mr. Finkelstein also got a big thank you for helping with the Robotics team. Talked about the community service that is being done at Southside Baptist Church with the soup kitchen. Also told about the social events being held. Discussed the need for the funds for the trips. that FBLA is hosting a breakfast at Applebee’s on March 5. Asked if we could sell tickets at their place of business and told they would be contacted.

NEW BUSINESS Discussed the FIRST robotics competition. Mr. Finkelstein showed the team’s robot to the group.
Next, the group discussed opportunities for students to compete in programming competitions. Merce has twice a year Alice Competition. GA Tech hosts both a Scratch and an Alice Competition. Also talked about other opportunities that may exist for students. This also included opportunities in web design competitions.
Mr. Finkelstein and Ms. Rackley talked about ways to get the middle school students more excited about the opportunities in computing as they move on to high school. They plan to meet to further discuss some options.

MINUTES Minutes from the spring meeting were approved. Motion made by Chad Yats, 2nd by Susan Little; motion carried. Approved Advisory Board Mission and Purpose.
REPORTS There were no committee reports. NEW BUSINESS National Business Honor Society – Ms. Eppinger described this new organization to HHS. It is parallel to Beta Club. We will be rewarding our students for CTSOs and academics, and now will have a national recognition. Invitations will be sent in October. She solicited speakers for meetings.
Career Expo – This will be held the Friday before Mock Interviews in the spring. We will have it in front of our auditorium. We would love to have advisory members participate. What better way to have the kids get ready for the mock interview than to let the students know more about the companies that will be represented during the interviews the next week?
Mock Interview – In folders, they received save‐the‐date flyers for mock interviews. 70 different companies interviewed 700 students last year. February 7‐10, 2012 are this year’s dates. There are different shifts; please choose one that fits. If not sure, please take it and return when you can confirm the times that work for you.
Speaker – Deborah Howard, DECA State Officer – Deborah explained her position at VP for Competitive Events. She gave background on how she got the role as well as what she is supposed to do in the role. Work‐Based Learning – Leigh Olsen explained that HHS places 40‐70 kids in worksites around the area. There are mentoring opportunities, and members were encouraged to serve as a work‐based learning site. NEW BUSINESS Pathway Descriptions & EOPT Update:
• We discussed the courses necessary for completing the Small Business Development and Accounting pathways. Discussed that the SMD pathway had over 20 completers last year, and a large percentage passed the test. The test was developed NOTCI.
• Around 15 students completed the accounting pathway last year, and 8 or so passed the NOTCI test. It was discussed that the EOPT this year will be the National Bookkeeping Exam. This will enable students to become certified bookkeepers upon passing the test.
FBLA Update • Ms. Eppinger explained how many students have joined FBLA this year – number was 141 as of
that date! In addition, a middle school chapter has been started and already has 88 members! Ms. Eppinger is assisting the teacher at HMS with the creation of the chapter.
• FBLA is participating in the Fall Rally at the Perry Fair on October 13, and is working hard towards a chapter of the year/gold chapter designation.
• There are plans to continue the service projects from last year, as well as finding new service opportunities for the kids. They are also planning something for March of Dimes in November.
• Currently, they are participating in sucker sales as a fundraiser. • The officers will be attending Fall Leadership in Athens in November.
Guest Speakers
• Ms. Waddell has spoken with the marketing classes before, and she offered to come and speak with any classes about financial literacy. It was discussed that we should find a time for her to speak to accounting classes.
• Mr. Tims has spoken with Business Essentials classes in the past about risk management. Plans are in place to continue that partnership.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS
• Ms. Waddell and Mrs. Little will meet to discuss what can be done for a seamless transition from HHS to CGTC, as well as discussing what needs to be continued for articulation agreements.
• Ms. Smith asked when HHS would be transitioning to Office 2010. It was discussed that plans are in place to upgrade next summer for our new textbooks. Concern was expressed that we not get too far behind in our software.
• Ms. Smith also expressed some concern about the technology grants that other schools have received, and wondered why Howard was not afforded the same opportunities. The response was that as long as we continue to meet our AYP measurable objectives and stay a successful school, there are not many avenues for additional funding from the state. She asked if there were alternative ways to procure grants, and we are not sure of that at this time.
• Ms. Smith also asked why Academy has sports wear from the other 5 high schools, but none from Howard. We said we would direct that question to Ms. Olsen and to our PTSO and Booster Club.

Partnering – Students with Mentors: Spoke about pairing some Howard students with college students to support them in AP Computer Science. This may give students some additional support as they get into more challenging classes.
Student Opportunities: Spoke about competitions including Mercer’s Alice competition as a way of getting student excited about opportunities based on the curriculum. We also discussed the possibilities of colleges in Macon stepping forward to help support the technology fair. Guest speakers/Field Trip Opportunities: Spoke of job shadowing possibilities on Groundhog Day. Margo thought that was a definite possibility at CGTC. Also, the opportunity to have guest speakers was discussed. CTSOs: We spoke of opportunities for students to get involved in all of our service organizations. Morgan spoke about recent developments with FBLA including membership numbers and the creation of the middle school FBLA chapter. COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS No recommendations were made. DECA‐Deborah Howard, Ariel Andrews – discussed how well DECA has been represented at various competitions this year. Named Outstanding DECA Chapter, 2 students qualified for ICDC (International Competition in Salt Lake City, Utah), one of the top 25 chapters in the state in membership. Deborah has served as VP for Competitive Events over the past year. FBLA‐ Pulkit Patel – gaining valuable leadership skills; 34 students qualified and traveling to state competition in March; very well represented at Region conference FCCLA – Amber Browner, Anna Isaac, Kathryn Dartez – not here; traveled to Capitol Day, going to state conference March 15‐17 FEA‐ Tesia Smith – won two of three team competitions at Fall State Conference; two students traveling to our first Spring Training conference March 15‐17 Skills USA‐ Brittany Taylor – doubled membership from last year, competed at region and 4 qualified for state conference. They will be attending that March 15‐17, and Brittany is running for a state office. NEW BUSINESS CTI ‐ Laura Terry, CTI Coordinator – She goes into all of our CTAE classes to work with PEC students who might need that extra push to make sure they are getting the attention they need. She also thanked all of those who interviewed during the Mock Interviews this year. We had over 60 community members here to interview our students. She also told everyone about the inaugural Run with the Huskies 5K coming up on March 10 and encouraged all to come run/walk it. Proceeds will benefit all of the CTSOs at Howard.
Speaker – Deborah Howard, Bibb County CTAE Student of the Year – Deborah shared with us her speech from the banquet. She has gained many leadership opportunities from DECA and CTAE. These classes gave her direction for the future. From taking Graphics as a freshman to finishing the Marketing pathway this year as well, she is fully prepared for a future in advertising design. She then talked to us about the Student of the Year process. This was the first year of the award. Everyone competed at the school level with an application and essay. One winner from each school advanced to the county competition. Their applications and essays were judged again, and they also had interviews. The award was presented at a county‐wide banquet. Deborah received a $500 scholarship for winning, as well as a plaque and banner for HHS. Deborah concluded with a special thank you to Jason Weiss for being such a great advisor.

NEW BUSINESS Board Chair Nominations – opened the floor for nominations; Mr. Sanders nominated Charles Aiken; 2nd by C. Smith; The nominations were closed, and members voted to accept Mr. Aiken’ nomination.
Mr. Aiken called Ms. Olsen to the floor to begin introductions.
Mrs. Olsen discussed the career coach position. Ms. Carra Floyd is our new career coach. Our students will give more information about this during their presentation.
Mrs. Terry discussed CTI. She is the liaison between PEC and CTAE. She collaborates with CTAE to assist special populations.
Mrs. Terry discussed the Run with the Huskies 5K and Fun Run. We gave all those who attended today a coupon for $3 off of their registration. All funds raised from the 5K will benefit our CTSO student as they attend state and national conferences.
Ms. Eppinger discussed industry certifications. Business and Computer Science program is going through industry certification. We must have up‐to‐date software, etc. It proves that we are the best of the best.
Mr. Weiss discussed mock interview. There is an informational flyer in everyone’s folder. We are recruiting interviewers for February 5‐8. Forms can be returned to Laura Terry. We will send reminder emails during December and January.
Ms. Olsen discussed work‐based learning. This program places students in jobs. If any of them know any employers, please let her know.
Student speakers Danielle Lasker (DECA President) and Delaney Doolittle (FBLA President) gave a presentation concerning the CTAE Coming Attractions. In it, they highlighted the Husky Run, CTSO Leadership Rally, Industry Certification process, Career Coach position, and clubs. DECA’s goals are to increase community service activity, increase the number of region and state competitors, and increase members participating at ICDC. FBLA endeavors to increase community service, school‐wide participation in club events, and to have more region and state winners, as well as national competitors. FEA has set goals to attend state leadership conferences in October and April, raise the number of
competition winners, and increase club and officer communication. SkillsUSA will attend Fall Rally on October 5, and wants to increase their membership numbers as well as developing more interest and positive experiences through club activities.
ANNOUNCEMENTS Ms. Eppinger announced that Mr. Jarvis and Mr. Finklestein were not able to attend due to Board of Education recognition and NMSI Grant requirements, respectively. They will be sending pertinent information to the interactive media & programming breakout session members.

CTAE activities – Mr. Hunter encouraged all members to join us for the Husky Run on October 13.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS Ms. Smith was pleased to know that our computers will be upgraded to Office 2010 this month. She did recommend that we go ahead and put a plan in place to be ready for the next upgrade as soon as possible. She recommended that we look at adding a Mac lab and or iPad and iPod carts to use in classes. Mr. Hunter discussed our iPad and iPod carts that we already have. The group discussed the importance of financial skills to students’ success in the future. Ms. Waddell and Mr. Wieters both volunteered to come speak to classes when needed. INTERACTIVE MEDIA & PROGRAMMING First, I deeply apologize for not being here last Thursday. I had planned and expected to be present to run the meeting, but received an e‐mail at the last minute that my Bibb BOE presentation, originally scheduled for 6 PM, was pushed back to 4 PM. Here is the information I would have given you on Thursday: Pathway Updates The Interactive Media pathway was proud to have 100% pathway completion last year as each student in Advanced Web Design (both semesters) passed the course, completing the three‐class pathway. We're still working on improving End of Pathway exam scores. Any suggestions or ideas to help our students out on the Adobe Web Certification exam would be great appreciated! Dr. Cassandra Washington is ordering practice exams for the students which will hopefully be beneficial. Class rosters continue to improve in size. Currently there are 44 students enrolled in two Beginning Programming classes. For the Spring 30 students are currently registered for A.P. Computer Science with the majority coming from Beginning Programming Classes. Currently 10 additional students are registered for Intermediate Programming. The students who are enrolled in A.P. Computer Science will sit for the A.P. Exam in May, while those students enrolled in Intermediate will sit for the end of pathway test. This test is administered by Skills USA and is composed of questions relating to Java, Visual Basic, C++, and general programming questions. The plan is to continue to grow the computing program to prepare students for post secondary success. Majoring in Computer Science offers a plethora of opportunities and job possibilities. Career Coach Howard High School now has a Career Coach: Ms. Carra Floyd. Carra is here to help students prepare for life after high school. She works with the guidance counselors on insuring students are meeting their graduation requirements, in particular the requirements related to CTAE. Carra is also playing a very important role in facilitating Georgia College 411 activities to our students. She has spoken to all of the
Computer Applications students about the importance of Georgia College 411; and is, also, working with Seniors on completing their Guideways in preparation for graduation. Additionally, Carra works for CTAE teachers in securing guest speakers for our classes. She also serves a bridge between community employers and the high school, working to help students find employment. FBLA Update FBLA has gotten off to a great start this year. We've already amassed over 70 members! As mentioned at our meeting last Spring, Joe is now a full‐time co‐advisor for the club. He will be working with students in the more tech‐heavy competitions. In October, 40 FBLA members will be heading to the Perry Fair for the FBLA Fall Motivational Rally. This is one of the most popular FBLA events we have during the year, as students get to listen to a motivational speaker, ride rides, and participate in early online testing to prepare for competition in the Winter. FBLA is also in the early stages of planning its annual trip to Athens, GA, for the Fall Leadership Conference. We are also currently recruiting parents to be apart of the Professional Division (FBLA‐PBL). This is a way to support the chapter by becoming a member. The cost is $23/year and will allow you the chance to keep current with what's going on in the business world. To create a collaborative partnership between local industry and educators that will enhance the preparation of college and career ready students.
ADVISORY BOARD PHILOSOPHY
We believe local community members have much to offer the students and faculty of Howard High School. The CTAE department will benefit from the perspective of local business leaders and post-secondary educators. These local leaders can ensure that the curriculum and instruction followed in the department meet current industry standards and needs. Because of this, all advisory board members are encouraged to participate in classrooms and clubs at Howard High.

Mr. Baima introduced himself as our new CTAE supervisor. He discussed the changes that have been
made in personnel, with the promotion of Dr. Washington to CTAE Director and Mr. Jason Weiss to CTAE
Supervisor. He showed us a 2 minute video about CTAE. He reiterated that CTAE prepares students for
their futures. He thanked everyone for coming and encouraged all members to become even more
involved.
Ms. Eppinger thanked our career coach Ms. Floyd specifically for recruiting guest speakers for classes.
Ms. Eppinger discussed industry certifications. Business and Computer Science program is going through
industry certification. We must have up-to-date software, etc. It certfies that our program is doing what
it takes to prepare students for the real world and that they are college and career ready. The final
review will be on April 2. We will ask the advisory committee to look over the website when we are
finished with it.

Student for each of the CTSOs spoke about what the clubs do at HHS. Ariel Andrews, DECA President
and Danielle Lasker, VP of Competitive Events spoke about DECA. AT state, there were 5 individuals and
1 team. One student qualified for ICDC. They focus on community service. They go to Carlyle Place once
a month to help out.
Danielle Lasker spoke about FBLA. She has been a member for 3 years. There is a wide variety of
available competitions. State competition will be held next week in Atlanta.
Corrie Jackson spoke about FEA. Future Educators Association has helped her find her passion for
teaching. We sell cupcakes to raise money for FEAST. They attended fall conference at Macon State, and
donated coloring books to the children’s hospital.
Brittany Taylor represented SkillsUSA. She has been inspired by the graphics program to pursue a career
in design. She discussed the Valentine’s cups they sold. They participated in Region competition last
week, and membership has doubled over the last 2 years. They have gone on several field trips to
understand more about graphic design.
After the students spoke, a video entitled “Looking Back: HHS CTSO ‘s Year in Review was played.
Delaney Doolittle created the video from pictures of events the clubs had participated in during the
2012-2013 school year.
The guest speaker for the meeting was Delaney Doolittle, Bibb County’s CTAE Student of the Year. She
started by thanking the faculty at HHS for what they do, and mentioning that 35 students will be
participating at SLC next week. She presented her essay concerning the difference CTAE has made in her
life. Originally, she resisted becoming involved in FBLA, but was quickly surprised at how that became
one of the best decisions she ever made. She has been both secretary and president of FBLA while at
HHS. Her original life plan was to become a nurse anesthetist, but Ms. Eppinger’s business essentials
class changed her mind completely. Her competitions in FBLA showed her that she has a passion for
both business and making her customers happy. She now knows that human resources is the path for
her. She plans to attend UGA in the fall as a Business Management major.

FBLA update – 35 students will be traveling to state next week. We once again had the largest number
of winners at region competition.
End of Pathway Tests – 20 students will be taking accounting, and approximately 45 will be taking the
small business development test on April 10.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS
Ms. Smith asked how the upgrade to Office 2010 was going. Mr. Baima let her know that one lab
has been updated, but we are waiting for the technology department to update the rest. Software
is already purchased.
Ms. Smith also asked if students could retake end of pathway tests if they didn’t pass the first
time. Mr. Baima let her know that it is looked at on a case by case basis.

Minutes from fall meeting were approved. (These were sent via email due to a board meeting on the
day of the actual meeting.)

NEW BUSINESS
FBLA update – Mr. Finkelstein talked about FBLA taking the Region sweepstakes championship for the
second year in a row. There are 35 students going to state conference. Chris Cannon placed in the top 5
for video game design. Zach Carlson and Marquis Chester are both running for region office.
Technology Competitions – Mr. Finkelstein gave an update on the Technology Fair and also discussed
students who participated in a couple of Georgia Tech competitions.
Scheduling/Pathways – Mr. Jarvis discussed upcoming curriculum changes and talked about the shift
from career pathways to career clusters. He discussed what would be the same and what would change.
He also talked about the upcoming change to a 7-period daily schedule and what effect that will have on
our classes as we move forward. Mr. Finkelstein talked about how that will effect his AP Computer
Science course.
Industry Certification – Mr. Jarvis discussed the industry certification process and what we will gain by
completing it.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS
A general discussion was introduced about the pros and cons of what types of programming
languages are taught in Programming as well as possibly using HTML5 in Web Design.

Greetings CTSO Advisors,
I am excited about this ensuing school year, and I welcome the opportunities to work with you to ensure academic excellence for all students. Presently, we are planning our 3rd Annual Leadership Rally, which is designed to provide Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) officers and advisors with the opportunity to increase leadership, communication and teambuilding skills. All of the aforementioned will be accomplished by attending hands-on workshops, seminars and general sessions. We are asking each CTSO chapter to attend this kick-off rally with their 2012-2013 officers; this is an opportunity you do not want your students to miss. The Leadership Rally will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Howard High. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Students will need to provide their own transportation to and from Howard High School. The cost per each officer and advisor is $20.00 dollars, which includes leadership material, t-shirt for the officer, lunch for officers and advisors, completion certificate and flash drive. In order to ensure safety, students will not be allowed to leave Howard High School until the end of the Rally. Please complete the registration, code of behavior and medical forms and return forms and payment to Mr. Jason Weiss at Howard High School by September 21st. Georgia Career Technical Student Organization’s Code of Behavior
1. Teachers/advisors will assume full responsibility that delegates abide by the Georgia Career Technical Student Organization dress code and code of behavior at all times.
2. Participants shall be prompt and prepared for all activities. All delegates shall behave in a courteous manner and refrain from language and/or actions that could bring discredit upon them, their school and/or Georgia Career Technical Student Organization. Delegates should wear name badges at all times.
3. Conduct not conducive to an educational conference will not be tolerated. Examples of unacceptable conduct include, but are not limited to, disrupting a businesslike atmosphere, consorting with non-conference individuals or any activities, which will endanger self or others.
4. Delegates are expected to attend all general sessions. Student participants shall not leave the premises without the permission from their advisor. Delegates shall keep their advisors informed of their activities and whereabouts at all times.
It is hoped that each student attending the Leadership Rally will take this Code of Behavior with a positive attitude in order to continue both Georgia Career Technical Student Organization’s reputation of professionalism and respect of education, business people and the general public.
