DRINK WATER: Be sure to stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water

before going to a holiday celebration. This helps you to stay full and is better than

sugary drinks.

DON’T DEPRIVE YOURSELF: It is better to have sweet treats in

moderation instead of trying to totally ditch them altogether. If you know youwill

want dessert, load up your plate with veggies for dinner!

OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND: If you’re at a holiday party make a plate

of what you want and sit down with others. This way you are not standing around the

buffet area mindlessly eating the salty and sweet treats calling your name… one after

another.

EAT SLOWLY: Eating slower will help you enjoy your food more by really

being able to see, smell, and taste it. Eating slow can make you feel fuller, faster.

Eating too fast may make you immediately wanting more and more resulting in getting

seconds even thirds.

Apple Gobbler

In its second year, the Eat Smart Play Smart Kids Club,

which offers young Stampede fans a “fan club” type atmos-

phere, provides unique and exclusive in-game experiences,

and also provides literature and information to enhance the

heart-healthy messaging. The club is named after the

PinnacleHealth Eat Smart Play Smart program, a fun-

filled weight management program for overweight children

ages 6-14 and their families. Participants learn to choose

healthy foods, enjoy an active lifestyle, and feel good about

themselves.
