WELCOME TO STAMFORD ENDOWED SCHOOLS

Welcome to theStamford Endowed Schools

Commitment, care, enthusiasm and integrity underpin every aspect of life at the Stamford Endowed Schools. Our children are educated in an environment where learning is regarded as a privilege and key

to unlocking all of life’s possibilities.

Our teachers dedicate themselves to inspiring intellectual curiosity in the students in evermore innovative ways, whilst promoting and protecting the wellbeing of the children in their care.

As a community our Schools work in harmony, blending students of different backgrounds and broadening their horizons with the many opportunities available in and beyond the classroom. As a result, the students are equipped not only with exceptional examination results, but a wide range of

experiences which prepare them for whatever path they choose in life.

Will Phelan, Principal

Our unique team provides opportunities, experiences, influences and support that ignite fires within our pupils and

encourages the spirit to succeed.

SUPPORTING OUR SCHOOLS

It would be natural to think that the staffing complement of a school such as the Stamford Endowed Schools would primarily comprise of teachers with some roles in support of the teaching teams. However just one-third of staff at Stamford Endowed Schools are teachers and the majority

of staff work in our operations, professional services and teaching support departments: they work in the kitchens, the marketing office, or in finance; and they maintain the sports pitches,

the computers and the school libraries. Over 300 people are responsible for providing these key services and ensuring that our three schools operate efficiently and effectively. Whatever their role,

operations staff, professional services staff and teaching support staff are all part of the Stamford Endowed Schools ‘One Team’, and all ultimately contribute to creating a positive environment in

which our pupils and staff can flourish and reach their full potential.

THE ROLE

The Role

The SSI is the Contingent Account Holder and is responsible for the day to day administration of the CCF at SES. They are also directly responsible for the School Shooting Team which regularly attends Bisley every year. The SSI reports to the Contingent Commander and acts as the Military advisor to both the Contingent

Commander and the Principal.

The Stamford Endowed Schools are looking to recruit an outstanding School Staff Instructor (SSI) to be responsible for the day to day administration of the Combined Cadet Force.

and act as military advisor to the Contingent Commander and the School Principal.

The DepartmentThe CCF constitutes 3 services, with roughly 250 cadets from both the boys’ and girls’ schools taking part. Training takes place during term time on a Friday evening, from 1530-1730. Training is held at the boys’ school site, where the CCF is able to make use of school’s large area of playing fields and a small amount of ‘rough’ ground, to facilitate field-training. There are also two large tarmacked areas which can be used for drill. The CCF makes use of the school’s classrooms, almost all of which are fitted with projectors and speakers systems, to help enrich lessons.

The CCF has its own stores and 3 offices and a 25m .22 rifle range, as well as a large armoury. Training is still undertaken from time to time at nearby Burghley park; an annual night navigation exercise is run in the estate in early December.

Stamford school’s CCF has long played an important role in contributing to ceremonial events, both in the town of Stamford and in the wider area. Each year, the Contingent provides a large number of cadets as part of the town’s memorial parade during November. A delegation is also sent on Armistice Sunday to nearby Barnack, for this village’s act of remembrance. When the Queen visited Stamford in 2012 as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Stamford School’s cadets formed an honour guard along the route of Her Majesty’s parade.

Leadership, Teamwork and Resilience.

Service and teamwork is fundamental to the Stamford ethos and this is exemplified by our commitment to the Combined Cadet Force (CCF). Run along military lines, the CCF is a youth organisation, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. It focuses on the development of leadership and teamwork and on the acquisition of practical skills such as first aid, map-reading and self-reliance.

Field weekends and camps

CCF cadets also take part in two Field Weekends each year and many cadets also attend a one-week camp at the end of the Summer term of their first year. Field Weekends and Camps take place all over the UK. Recent examples include trips to Yardley Chase (Army), RAF Marham and Whale Island (RN).

Regular Inspections

The CCF is formally inspected every two years by a senior Armed Forces officer. Our CCF regularly receives glowing plaudits.

Staff

The CCF is staffed by a Contingent Commander, a Specialist School Instructor, 3 section commanders. There are a number of teaching staff across the Schools, who hold commissions within our contingent.

OUR SCHOOLS

Our Schools

The Schools are a part of the great heritage of Stamford and a symbol of its vibrancy and evolution. Established in 1532, the Schools have undergone many changes but have consistently

provided a first-class education.

Today the Schools remain interwoven with Stamford life, to which our students, teachers, parents and staff contribute greatly. At Stamford we have one simple and overriding aim, that is to inspire our students and light fires within them.

The schools educate 1650 pupils at the co-educational Stamford Junior School for children

aged 3-11, Stamford High School for girls aged 11-18, and Stamford School for boys aged 11-18. The sixth form which teaches boys and girls together across the two senior schools. Stamfordians leave here poised for success in the real world - quietly confident, kind, positive, hardworking, unassuming and resilient. We are independent schools nurturing independent minds.
