What is stalking?

According to the Stalking Resource Center (2004), Stalking is defined as “course of conduct directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable a person to feel fear”

We at F.A.C.E. I.T. believe that stalking can consist of texting and/or calling(after being asked to stopped) , showing up at your home, workplace, school unannounced, emailing, finding out information about you that you did not provide, etc.

What to do if you or someone you know is being stalked

If you are someone who is being stalked, it is important that you inform someone whether

it being family, friends, or an associate. It is not an easy situation to deal with but it is a

situation that you can survive.

Getting a protective order is a good idea, for legal reasons. We understand that

protective orders are sometimes violated but it is good to get one because at least they will

have a record on file for your stalker.

If you know someone who is being stalked please share this information with them and

try to help them if you can. It is also important to be understand during times such as these.

People who are dealing with situations like these don’t need someone to talk at them but

need someone to talk with them and listen. Whatever you do, do not be judgmental.
