excel in this position? – What “soft skills" are desired from the applicant?
> Unit Description: Integrate elements of your unit’s values and commitments related to diversity – In which ways has the unit expressed its commitment to
diversity? – How does diversity contribute to the unit’s work?

> University Description: Include the UW’s broader commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion – What is the UW’s commitment to diversity? – How is the UW’s commitment to diversity evident across the
campus community and the work conducted on campus?
> Description of Materials to be Submitted: Request a statement from applicants to evaluate their competencies related to diversity and inclusion – What is the applicant’s experience with diverse populations
and diversity-related work? – How might their previous experiences inform their work in your
unit?
EXERCISE
Take a few minutes to review your unit’s job ad. Focusing on the four parts of a job ad, think about how you might edit your unit’s ad to include diversity and inclusion language. Discuss these thoughts with your table. Share and give feedback on the thoughts expressed.
