Stage 1 Excursion On Monday 13 May, Year 1 and Year 2 students went on their excursion to the Orange
Adventure Playground and the Orange Theatre. They had a wonderful time exploring the
playground and seeing the ‘magic’ of Grandma Poss and Hush. The students were met at the
door of the theatre by magicians doing magic tricks. As they entered the theatre, the set was
mystical and magical. Once the lights dimmed, Grandma Poss appeared and the show started. All
the children were enthralled. It was a wonderful excursion and the teachers were all very proud
of how the students represented the school.

Possum Magic Writing from 2 Red Grandma Poss and Hush first went to Adelaide to have crunchy, yummy Anzac biscuits. These are made with golden yellow oats and runny sweet golden syrup. Grandma Poss and Hush’s second place they went to was Melbourne to have mornay and minties. Mornay is a casserole with lots of creamy cheese sauce. Sydney was the third place Grandma Poss and Hush went to and they had steak and salad. The steak could have been beef or lamb. Salad is made from all kinds of colourful vegetables. At Brisbane, Grandma Poss and Hush had pumpkin scones which are made from mashed pumpkin, eggs and milk. In Darwin, Grandma Poss and Hush had a tasty vegemite sandwich with big blobs of vegemite. Hush got her tail back. Grandma Poss and Hush’s next place they went to was Perth and when they got there they got to eat pavlova. The pavlova had juicy fruit on the top and in the middle there was crunchy stuff. Hush’s body could now be seen. Grandma Poss and Hush then went to Hobart to have lamingtons. They have chocolate sauce and coco-nut on the top. Hush could now be seen all over her body.

They eat vegemite sandwiches there. Vegemite is an Australian spread and it is used on bread to make sandwiches. Perth is a place where Grandma Poss and Hush went to and the eat pavlova there. Pavlova is made out of lovely egg whites and delicious sugar. Hush gobbled the pavlova up because it was so good. Tasmania is the last place Grandma Poss and Hush visit. They eat lovely lamingtons there. Lamingtons are a sponge cake covered in chocolate sauce and when the chocolate sauce is still gooey they get dipped in coconut.

Tennis Knockout - Round 3 Last Friday, our tennis team walked to the Parkes tennis courts to play Tottenham Central in our Round 3 game. Whilst one of our team members was injured, Rhys Thompson came in to play as our reserve.
We began the day well with Faith Clarke and Ella McColl both winning their singles in straight sets and Rhys also pulled through a tie-breaker to win his singles game.
Flynn Thompson’s luck was not shining, missing several close shots on the line in his first loss. While the doubles games were closer, we managed to win 3 out of the 4 sets. Overall we won 6 sets to 2.
These great results gave us the win for the day, moving us through to Round 4, when we will be playing against Cudgegong Valley. Well done players.

The egg and bacon rolls appeared to be a highlight, with the wonderful smell of the BBQ enticing quite a few people to come along and buy something to eat (and even come back for seconds). Thank you to those people who supported the P&C in raising $1200.

This includes tennis, hockey, rugby league, the Activate Inclusion Sports day and cross country. Our students always represent themselves and their school with pride and we are certainly proud of them.
STEM Activities Our school is involved in a Digital Technologies project with ACARA (one of only 160 schools across Australia) with a specific focus on STEAM. STEAM intertwines the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics with key skills such as problem solving, strategic thinking and collaboration to produce quality products. Each Friday afternoon the whole school spends an hour focused on STEAM based learning activities. Each class works on one activity for two weeks before rotating to another STEAM based activity.
