The score code information below assumes that the child will take the test. If he or she is absent or
has an event occur such as cheating, you would bubble the appropriate code for that particular
subject (vs. “S” for score).

STAAR L Math:
There is no STAAR L for reading so students who qualify for STAAR L math must take the regular
STAAR paper test for reading (with the applicable accommodations ‐unless they take STAAR A
which will be included later on within this document). As a result, you will bubble “S” for
reading and an “*” for math. This tells ETS that the student took an online version of the test.
(Ex. from 8th grade doc)
What if a student takes STAAR A for reading and STAAR for math (or STAAR A for math and STAAR for
reading)?
You bubble “S” on the answer document for the paper test taken and an “*” for the test taken
online.
What if a student takes STAAR A for reading and STAAR L for math?
Since both tests are being administered online, you void the paper answer document.
What if a student takes STAAR A for both reading and math?
Since both tests are being administered online, you void the paper answer document.
