From the Pastor: Last weekend, June 6-7, I had two opportunities to get in-volved and be present at rallies, i.e. “protests,” for racial justice, and against po-lice and societal violence and racism. I watched peaceful young people speak on Saturday, June 6, in front of the police station. A high school student, a teacher from Milwaukee who was also a man of faith, a young white mother, and others spoke with passion about their desire for change. Notably, they did not speak against anybody. They spoke positively about their hopes for them-

selves, for others, especially racial minorities, and for the next generation. While I was there, Police Chief Andrew Smith quietly greeted me. He did not want to distract from the moment and withdrew to the station entrance. I walked with the group back to City Hall with another parishioner, a white man, who hoped for change, too. Then on Sunday, June 7, in the midst of distributing Communion around 12:45 p.m., I heard the shouts of the marching crowd that passed our parish on Jefferson Street. When I finished praying with the group of communicants, I walked to the Jefferson St. side of the parking lot and went to one knee as the crowd moved past. They moved fast, I thought, and many called out to me saying: “Thanks for being here, Father,” and shouting “Black Lives Matter!” and other slogans. I replied to as many as I could with, “Peace, God is blessing us.” I remained on my knee until the last two women passed with their signs, some distance be-hind the main group. They, too, thanked me as I offered “peace.” Being present and standing with the young people on Saturday, and kneeling as the crowd passed on Sunday, felt Eucharistic. If unity, peace, and reconciliation are the effects of the Sacrament of the Eucharist, then that is what I wanted to convey and to experience. I would say Eucharist happened on the streets of Green Bay this weekend. The Body of Christ was visible. Peace, Fr. Andy

Wednesday Faith Formation

From: Coordinator Lupita Dorado:

First of all I want to say that our teachers and I really miss you. We miss seeing you weekly and we hope that you all are staying safe. It is a time with many uncertainties, but it is also a time in which we can take advantage of and strengthen our relation-ship with God. To those students who are in prepa-ration of a sacrament, First Communion or Confir-mation, I want you to know that you will receive your sacrament as soon as it is safe for us to gather. Things will be different, and they will feel different, but the essence and joy of the Sacrament will re-main, and I actually think it will be greater! As of now, there is no set date for First Com-munions or Confirmation but as soon as we enter phase 2 of the reopening process, we will be able to determine a date. FIRST COMMUNION: First thing that will happen once we enter phase 2 is First Reconciliation. We will have 2 dates in which Fr Andy will be available for confessions. I will be calling you all to let you know when this will happen. Then Fr. Andy and I will decide on a date for First Communions and communicate it with you all. In the meantime, please email me your child’s baptismal certificates if they were baptized any-where else other than St. Willebrord. If they were baptized here, then please email me the approxi-mate date. CONFIRMATION: The confirmation retreat is cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Bishop Ricken has authorized priests to confirm, therefore once it is safe, we will communicate with you the new date for Confirmation. It will not be June 4th as originally planned and I cannot give an ap-proximate date since things change so quickly so often. All I can do for now is say “Thank you!” for your patience and encourage you to be attentive to Fr. Andy’s announcements after our Live Masses and the bulletin for more information. Amy and I are staying in touch with students via email and have already communicated with them the 2 things we need from them before June 13th: their letter to the Bishop requesting the Sacrament of Confirmation and their Sponsor booklet. Please talk to you son/daughter to see if they yet need any of these tasks completed. Any other questions please call me at the parish and leave a voicemail. I will return your call as soon as I am able to or for faster communication email me at [email protected].

Paz, Padre Andy
