Normally, this time of year, we are thinking a lot about summer plans.  Many have already started filling up the calendar with hopeful tournaments, vacations, and other outings.  Fr Dave and Fr Joe want to ask the youth of our parish to stay con-nected to their spiritual lives with the Lord who has given each of us the talents and abilities to do all the other things they will participate in this summer.  So, encourage them to take a few days and see how the Lord will allow everything else to fit into the schedule as well. Our youth, their parents nor their priests will outdo God in gener-osity.  The diocesan youth ministry office is offer something for just about every type of personality:  check each of these events at their own link: Totus Tuus: June 21-26; St Vincent de Paul Parish.  College students are teach-ers of the faith who put on a parish wide vacation bible school for grade school stu-dents during the day and incredible faith filled high energy fun evenings for the high school students. Best marketing for Totus Tuus: each night the number of participants increases because attendees say how great it is! https://diojeffcity.org/totus-tuus/    Camp Maccabee: June 28-July 3 OR July 26-31; St Robert Bellarmine, St Robert, MO home base.  Camp Maccabee was founded in 2009 with the purpose of forming bold, Catholic, masculine leaders. Since then, the camp has evolved into a much-anticipated summer event for many young Catholic men (grades 9-12) across the Diocese of Jefferson City. https://diojeff-city.org/camp-maccabee/

CHRISTPower: July 12-18; Helias Catholic High School home base. An au-thentically Catholic service retreat for those who were in high school during the 2019-2020 school year to grow in rela-tionship with Jesus Christ and his Church.  During the day, retreatants are sent out in teams to serve in a variety of non-profit and social service agencies around Jefferson City.  In the evening, retreatants return for meals, fellowship, and dynamic evenings filled with games, discussions, praise/wor-ship, sacrament and more! https://diojeffci-ty.org/christpower/ Camp Siena: July 19-23; St Patrick, Laurie home base. Camp Siena is a summer camp experience committed to helping young Catholic women (grades 9-12) deepen their relationship with God and others by exercising, understanding, and living their unique feminine spirituality and becoming the woman God is calling them to be. https://diojeffcity.org/camp-si-enna/ For more information about any of these activities and more, check out the diocesan youth ministry office at  https://diojeffcity.org/youth-ministry/.  It is import-ant the youth from our parish are able to take advantage of these great faith-filled opportunities.  Fr Dave and Fr Joe are avail-able to ask questions and to see what we can offer to our youth at the parish level as well.  Blessings and Happy Easter Season!  * Please realize these events are still sched-uled but could be subject to change in these uncertain times.

The Sacred Heart School Founda-tion has named Kyle Herrick as president, and Paul Beykirch as vice president of its board of directors. Both will lead the board in fostering relationships and strengthening partnerships to advance the mission of the Foundation and Sacred Heart School. Herrick joined the Sacred Heart School Foundation in 2012 and has served as vice president since 2016. He succeeds Beverly Rollings who remains on the board at treasurer. Beykirch joined the Sacred Heart School Foundation in 2012. “I could not feel more con dent in our new leadership team with Kyle at the helm,” said Rollings. “As I look back on how far we have come, and the challenges we have met together, I am heartened by two extraordinary Hall of Fame alumni leading us into the future. Kyle and Paul love Sacred Heart School and are fully invested in seeing its valuable mission continue in perpetuity.” Herrick and Beykirch are abiding champions of Sacred Heart and the Sedalia community, having held leadership posi-tions in a wide range of civic organizations. Both are graduates of Sacred Heart School and are actively involved in the revitalization of the Sacred Heart School Alumni Associa-tion. Following graduation from Sacred Heart in 1982, Herrick continued his edu-cation at State Fair Community College. In 1984, he joined Bryant Motor Company’s sales department where he is now Dealer Principal. In addition to serving Sacred Heart in various capacities, Herrick’s civic endeav-ors also include the Sedalia Heritage Foun-dation (acting president), State Fair Commu-nity College Foundation (board member), and Sedalia Convention and Visitors Bureau (acting president). Herrick is a recipient of the Sedalia Chamber’s William C. Hopkins Volunteer of the Year award (1997 and 2001) and Sacred Heart School’s Alumnus of the Year (2010). In 2017, he was inducted in the inaugural class of the Sacred Heart School Hall of Fame. “My amazing wife (Roxanne) of 35 years and I both graduated from Sacred Heart in 1982, and we’re proud parents of two SH alumna: Alecia ‘09 and Sydni ‘12,” said Herrick. “Like my parents, Catholic Education is something I feel very strongly about. I am blessed to call Sedalia home and glad I can give back to Sacred Heart School, to my church, and to the entire community.” As president, Herrick says he wants to emphasize the vital role of the Sacred Heart School Foundation to the survival and continued growth Sacred Heart School. “There’s no doubt in my mind that the Sacred Heart Foundation is one of the

key reasons Sacred Heart Heart School is still in existence today,” said Herrick. “As the only Catholic high school in our region, I want local businesses to realize the bene- ts of Sacred Heart School and invest in its students and faculty. I want our alumni to appreciate the education they received and pay it forward to the next generation. Like those before us, we have to pay it forward if we want a future that includes Sacred Heart School in our community. Without local and alumni support we may fail.” Revenue for Sacred Heart comes from three primary sources, which include tuition, support from the St. Vincent de Paul parish, and the Sacred Heart School Foun-dation. The Foundation’s Annual Fund Drive is the school’s largest revenue-generating event for Sacred Heart School. Beykirch is a 1973 graduate of Sacred Heart School. He continued his education at Creighton University and the University of Missouri. He then joined the family business at County Distributing. Paul has used his position to help grow the busi-ness into the three-facility operation that it is today. Beykirch serves on the Missouri Beer Wholesalers Worker’s Compensation Board and the Center for Alcohol Policy (Arlington, Va.). He was instrumental in the formation of the successful Lub Dub 5K Run to bene t the Camye Callis Gaspard Memori-al Heart Fund, and the Turkey Trot to bene t the Children’s Therapy Center. In 2017, he was inducted in the inaugural class of the Sacred Heart School Hall of Fame. “It’s an honor to serve with many wonderful people who have the interest in providing a wonderful Catholic Christian education for our youth,” says Beykirch. Our goal is to help Sacred Heart School give kids the tools to become the best well-rounded person they can be!”

Herrick and Beykirch will lead the 11-mem-ber Sacred Heart School Foundation team that includes: Joe Fischer, Steve Ellebracht, Jorge Guevara ‘03, Virgil McDonald, Dr. Mark Register ‘75, Stephani Marshall-Rice, Beverly Rollings, Suzie Thompson, and Bill Turner. About the FoundationSacred Heart School Foundation was formed in 1979 with the mission to develop private resources to support the long-term growth and sustainability of Sacred Heart School. While independent of the school, the Foun-dation also mobilizes resources, leadership, ideas, and support needed to promote and perpetuate excellence in the classroom at Sacred Heart. The Foundation Annual Fund Drive is Sacred Heart’s foremost fund-raising event. In the last 15 years, Foundation contri-butions in support of Sacred Heart School exceed $3.5 million. For more information about the Foundation, contact Liz Suter-Van Leer, development director, [email protected] or (660) 827-3800.

Chaplet of Divine Mercy

The Chaplet of Mercy is recit-ed using ordinary rosary beads of five decades. The Chaplet is preceded by two opening prayers from the Diary of Saint Faustina and followed by a closing prayer.1. Make the Sign of the CrossIn the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.2. Optional Opening PrayersYou expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Your-self out upon us. (Repeat three times) O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!3. Our FatherOur Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.4. Hail MaryHail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death,

Amen.5. The Apostles’ CreedI believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He de-scended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy

catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.6. The Eternal FatherEternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.7. On the 10 Small Beads of Each DecadeFor the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.8. Repeat for the remaining decadesSaying the “Eternal Father” (6) on the “Our Father” bead and then 10 “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion” (7) on the following “Hail Mary” beads.9. Conclude with Holy God (Repeat three times)Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.10. Optional Closing PrayerEternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaust-ible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despon-dent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.
