A Prayer For “Renew My Church”
Lord Jesus, you speak to us today, as you spoke to holy men and women who have gone before us.In every age and in our own time, you call to us and say: Renew My Church.
Pour out the gift of your Holy Spirit upon us, and so enable us to hear you clearly
to listen to each other attentively to imagine our future boldly
to discern your direction wisely to persevere in your holy will courageously
to stay together in charity to surrender our own plans readily
to embrace the greater good to hand on your gifts to future generations.
May we remain in the holy company ofthe Blessed Virgin Mary, the apostles, and all the saints.
May their example and presenceinspire us with patient confidence
in the work of your grace.
We ask this of you who live and reignwith the Father
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,forever and ever. Amen

PASTORAL MIGRATORIA
One of the hottest news item for some time has been the immigration issue; Eleven million undocumented immigrants who live in the US. It is an unresolved political issue which is
played in many fronts. The political battle has been long and controversial, but unresolved. There are civic organizations which fight for a solution and aid immigrants in every way they can. There are religious organizations which are involved in this problem as part of
their religious conviction. It is a human right issue that cannot be ignored. Most of all, it’s a dilemma which involves extreme personal and family suffering that must be addressed on a
human and personal way.
This Sunday at the 8.00 AM Spanish mass, we’ll be hosting representatives from various dioceses from throughout the United States who have come to get a first-hand look at how Chicago Catholics respond to this human crisis. We are sharing with them our experience
with the hope that it will help them in their own home dioceses. Four of our own parishioners, who have received training to accompany, inform and support our own
parishioners who may require assistance, will be commissioned during this mass.
We are proud to be a small part in this initiative and hope that more and more people participate actively to help our immigrants in a compassionate way.
******************************************************************************************PASTORAL MIGRATORIA

Called By God Today’s scriptures invite us to listen to two calls. The first is the call issued by the LORD to the prophet Amos, the
“shepherd and a dresser of sycamores” (Amos 7:14). The second is the call the Lord Jesus issued to the Twelve,
whom he sent out “two by two” (Mark 6:7). These faithful people responded to the call, prophesying and preaching to
the people to whom they had been sent. Each of us received a call when we were baptized. The second reading
invites us to ponder that call as we are reminded that we are chosen in Christ and that, in love, God “destined us for adoption” (Ephesians 1:5). As adopted daughters and sons
of God we are called to bring the presence of Christ into our marriages, families, schools, and places of work. Let us be inspired today to say yes to the call we hear once again
through God’s living word.

"To be clear: Catholics cannot provide, support or encourage abortion. Catholic political leaders have a serious obligation in this matter. Abortion is sinful; it is
immoral. It destroys life and exploits women. Disciples of Christ do not support abortion. Period."
-Bishop Thomas J. Tobin
-Obispo Tomas J. Tobin

June 20, 2018 Press Release ANNOUNCEMENT:
FRIAR ORDAINED TO PRIESTHOOD
With Gratitude to God, the Province of Saint Thomas of Villanova of the Order of Saint Augustine joyfully announces the Ordination to the Priesthood of Bryan Joseph Kerns, O.S.A., through the laying on of hands and invocation of the Holy Spirit by Archbishop
Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of Philadelphia. Father Bryan’sordination took place on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Saint Thomas of Villanova Church, 800
East Lancaster Avenue, Villanova, PA
Quote from Father Bryan Kerns, O.S.A.“On August 15, 2011, I entered the Augustinian Pre-Novitiate Program, which for me was
not as big a step as one might imagine. After all, I had known the Augustinians since I had attended Monsignor Bonner High School and Villanova University. I was responding
to what I took to be God's direction for my life at that time. Of this I had no doubt. Doubts? Yes. But doubt in a lingering sort of way? None. And that doubt never did
arrive—which is not to say it was easy. It has, in fact, been challenging, but challenging in the way that we would want the most significant things we do to be
challenging. Through the Augustinians I came to know and witness the richness of the Christian life, and in the ethos of the Order an opportunity to serve Christ and the Church
through a particular way of looking at the world that I take to be deeply true: one that reflects something about both the nature of the God whom we serve, love, and stumble
towards, seeking rest; and the nature of the human persons we serve, love, and stumble after in their (and our) restlessness. We Augustinians are poised in the middle, offering ourselves to God and to our neighbors, looking for the rest that comes only in the easy
yoke of Christ.”
Additional info:Father Bryan Kerns, O.S.A. is 29 years old. He attended Monsignor Bonner High School and Villanova University. He did his pastoral year of service at Saint Augustine Church and School on Essex Street, teaching math.Father Bryan’s Favorite Quote:"Let us seek with the desire to find, and find with the desire to seek still more."-Saint Augustine

We Are One Family, Encircled by God’s Love!
Saint Turibius Parish
Parish Mission Statement
We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in
us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out
Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God
by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal
call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by
the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent
and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we
believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,
forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with
us, know we are Christians by our love!
