As summer arrives we head off across the world – literally. This year Breathe is to be a beneficiary of an amazing fundraising event called The Cultural Cycle – a solo bike ride from London to St Petersburg promoting arts and health. We mark this remarkable challenge with a series of special concerts taking in the views along the way. We also make our debut as part of TOTALLY THAMES. As usual we have many stunning performances in store. Come and join us in some lively events in our unique hospital venues.

Breathe delivers a diverse and engaging performing arts and health programme across the clinical and public spaces of Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals and the local communities of Lambeth & Southwark. Breathe works in collaboration with health and cultural partners to design innovative ways to use the arts and creativity in healthcare to:

Improve clinical outcomes for patients

Enrich the healthcare environment for patients, staff and visitors

Develop individual and community engagement with their health and wellbeing

Provide unique training opportunities for clinical and non-clinical staff

Our Performers

Namlo is a Nepalese fusion band and is a unique collaboration of musicians, who have been inspired by Nepalese musician Ganga Thapa. They celebrate the homeland with poetic lyrics and melodies inspired by Himalayan foothills & mountains and together weave a cross-cultural musical soundscape with influences from West Africa all the way to South America.

Wednesday 8th July

This season’s Breathe Amplifies... is composer and pianist Karim Kamar. Karim is a musician of outstanding quality, with a style similar to contemporary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. Today he performs a selection of his own original compositions - soft and romantic in nature - perfect for peace and tranquillity.

Influenced by the scenery and the surroundings of his Senegalese village, Abdoulaye began to create his own sound. Working in a building yard, he grabbed his tools and with the help of a few fishing rods and a petrol can he made his own guitar! The guitar became his favourite instrument. Abdoulaye’s music has grown from his travels, collaborations and research in Africa and Europe.
