THE FITNESS CENTERThe Fernandez Family Center for Leadership & Wellness has been

described as the student hub of St. Thomas University. This facility opened in the fall of 2009 and has all the features of a modern fitness center. The multi-purpose building accommodates a gym that contains state of the art equipment for the athletically inclined or for those who want to get back in shape. The Center’s court serves as the home ground for basketball and volleyball games in a fully air-conditioned environment. Other amazing features of the center include a multi-purpose room for dancing and activities other purposes; an Audiovisual Room; food stands and second floor classroom and meeting facilities; among others. The Fernandez Family Center is a stone’s throw away from the residence halls and thus serves as enticement for an active lifestyle for campus residents.

SituatedonthefirstfloorofDonnellonHall,theDonnellonLoungeistheultimatedestinationforresidentstohangoutafteralongday.Openfrom6pm-12midnightontheweekdays,residentsenjoytheLounge,whichservesasameetingplaceforexchangingideas,askingquestions,andcreatingcommunity.

Theloungeoffersapooltable,anairhockeytable,twoflatscreenTVswithsurroundsound,asoundsystem,andlotsofcomfyseating.LoungegamesincludeRock-band;Karaoke;Wiiandmanyothervideoandboardgames.It’salsoapopularareaforcasualdebatesamongresidentsandforwatchingmovies.Theloungeisopenedtoallresidents.

Certainly residents need fuel to keep up with all academic, athletic and extra-curricular activities while living in the St. Thomas University Residence Halls. This is where Bobcat Dining Services come into play. One can find the Bobcat Cafe next to the bookstore in Carol Hall. The Cafeteria has an array of dishes to melt the appetite of residents.

Residents have options of meal plans with the typical being three meals during weekdays and two on weekends – a total of 19 dishes. (Reduced meal plans are available to Law and Graduate students only.)

The Bobocat Bookstore contains the books you need for class, university apparel and other needed supplies.

Whether you’re looking for a place to grab a quick bite to eat, catch a game on T.V., or spend time with friends, The Rathskellar located in the Student Center is a dining option providing just right setting. This location offers gaming equipment a variety of choices, hours of operation, and boast menus that are sure to satisfy you. Additionally, residents are given valuable “Rathbucks” each semester that they can use to pay for quick meals. All this is already calculated in the housing fees.

YES, before your application can be accepted for on-campus housing; you must first be admitted to the University as a student. When anD hoW WIll I fInD oUt Where I am goIng to lIve?your housing assignment will arrive in the mail during the summer. all other assignments will be made on a continuous basis; there is generally a four to six week turn-over-time.

may I See my room before I move In?Since the residence halls at St. thomas University are in use year round, it is not possible to see your room. However, the Office of Admissions has guided tours throughout the year, and would be able to show you a residence hall and sample room.

Who IS reqUIreD to pay a hoUSIng DepoSIt? each student who lives in on-campus housing is required to pay a non-refundable housing deposit of $250.00. If no space is available for the academic year you applied, your deposit will be refunded in full.

can I cancel my hoUSIng contract? once signed and returned, the housing contract represents a legal, binding document for the duration of the academic year. Unless you are graduating student, are enrolled in an approved, University-sponsored study abroad, or other qualifying activities (as per contract terms), you are subject to a contract cancellation fee.

What SIze are the beDS?the majority of the beds in the residence halls are extra-long twin beds.

are there laUnDry facIlItIeS In the hallS?laundry facilities are available in each residence hall. Student laundry cards are available in the campus Life office located in the Student Center. Students must bring their own laundry detergent and other supplies.

may I be aSSIgneD a SIngle room? Single rooms may be requested, but are limited. most new students are assigned a roommate at the beginning of the year. Upper-class students, graduate students and law students are assigned single rooms before freshman and sophomores on a first-come first-serve basis.
