THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - OCTOBER 29, 2017

Dear Parishioners and Friends:

All Saints’ Day, November 1, Is a Holy Day of Obliga on with a endance at Mass obligatory for Catholics. On this

day, we honor all the holy people who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith. At bap sm, we were marked with the same sign. May we follow their footsteps into God’s heav-enly kingdom.

The following day, Thursday, November 2nd, is the Commemora on of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day). All Souls’ Day is not a holy day of obliga on. On this day we remember all the faithful departed who have gone before us. These two special days, open a month that is dedicated to the remembrance of and prayer for the dead. ALL SAINTS HOLY DAY SCHEDULE: VIGIL (OCTOBER 31) 6:00 PM ST. THOMAS NOVEMBER 1 8:30 AM AND 5:30 PM ST. MONICA NOVEMBER 1 8:30 AM ST. THOMAS

Sincerely yours, Fr. John Sakowski

Reflec on on the Gospel

“The greatest law is the law of love.”

In today’s Gospel, we hear the ques on: Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest? Jesus replied, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with

all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

The two great commandments engage our whole humanity in an ongoing conversa on with God and with each other. Observe them well with a passionate, hear elt, soulful and mindful commitment to God and to God’s created world. Let our prayer this week be for the grace to share God’s love.
