Wed. College Student Mass and Dinner St. Thomas Parish sponsors a special Wednesday evening Mass

and Dinner for college students each Wednesday while the

University of Montevallo is in session. The Mass is celebrated at

5:30PM at the Campus Chapel on the corner of Highland and

Moody, and a dinner prepared by teams from the parish follows

immediately after Mass.

Angel Tree Thank you Thank you to everyone who brought gifts for “The Angel Tree”. Our Social Concerns Ministry has done their usual wonderful job with this event. The people at Shelby Emergency Service and at Bibb County DHR and the clients that they serve are deeply appreciative of your generosity.

Advent Penance Service 12/14 St. Thomas Parish will celebrate its annual Advent Penance

Service on Thursday, December 14 at 7:00pm. This is a

wonderful way to prepare spiritually for Christmas.

Candle Lighting for Advent Wreath St. Thomas will light the candles of the Advent Wreath as part of

the Entrance Procession each week. We invite families or groups of

individuals to sign up in the Gathering Area for this ministry.

Dinner with Santa Thank You The Ladies Auxiliary sends a heartfelt thank you to everyone

who helped and/or attended Dinner with Santa, especially the

EPIC volunteers.

Primetimers “Dirty Santa Gift” 12/12 For parishioners men, women and their guest who are 50 or

older we get together once a month on the 2nd Tuesday. The

Mass is at 11:00AM with a lunch after in the Parish Hall. The

Primetimers will have a “Dirty Santa Gift” between $5-$10.

Cooks provide the meal. If you would like to cook or provide

something for the meal, please call JoAnn Peacock at 670-0355

or Susie Leckness at 205-664-3268. Our next meeting will be

Tuesday, December 12, 2017.

Parish Pastoral Council Installation 12/10 Congratulations to Lee Renfrow, Kelly Scales, and Carol Schmidt who were chosen for the Parish Pastoral Council. The Parish Pastoral Council will be installed at the 11:00 AM Mass on December 10th.

Christmas Caroling on 12/21 St. Thomas High School Youth Ministry will sponsor the annual Christmas Caroling at Shelby Ridge Nursing Home on Thursday, December 21 at 6:30 PM. We thank Maria and Brian O’Dea, and all the high school students for their leadership with this event. We thank the Renna family for their music ministry with this activity. All are welcome. Please join the St. Thomas Youth Group as we share the joy of Christmas with the nursing home residents.

K of C Squires Monthly Meeting 12/17 Squires Monthly Meeting: The third Sunday at 12:15 till 1:30pm.

Christmas Flowers There are envelopes in the Gathering Area for those people who

wish to contribute to the cost of the Christmas flowers in

memory of or in honor of a loved one. Please place the envelopes

in the collection.

Confirmation Retreat Team St. Thomas Parish has set the dates for the Confirmation Retreats.

The Confirmation I Retreat will be on January 26-27, 2018 , and

the Confirmation II Retreat will be February 23-24, 2018. Both

retreats will be at the Catholic Student Center on the corner of

Highland and Moody in Montevallo. The retreats will be presented

by a Retreat Team that will consist of college students and of high

school students who are already confirmed. The Retreat Team

will meet for planning on Wednesday evenings at the Catholic

Student Center. The meetings will be on November 29, January

10, 17 and 24 in preparation for the first retreat. Then, there will be

meetings on the Wednesdays of February to prepare for the

second retreat. The meetings will begin at 6:45 PM, and the

college students and confirmed high school students are also

invited to attend the Mass at 5:30 PM and the dinner that follows.

End of the Year Gifts St. Thomas Parish would welcome end-of-the-year gifts, to the

Rosary and Adult Faith Formation The Adult Faith Formation class would like to invite anyone who

is interested to join us in saying the rosary for our parish and other

intentions after the 8:00am mass on Sundays. We meet in the

church and the rosary begins at 9:15am. All are welcome to stay

for the Adult Faith Formation which meets from 9:45am to

10:45am in the Youth Room in the back of the church.

Knights of Columbus Scholarships This is a reminder that the St Thomas Knights of Columbus award 2 scholarships per year, one to a boy and one to a girl, who are high school seniors and are registered members of the St Thomas Parish. Details and applications are available in the parish office. The deadline for application submittal is December 31.

College’s & HS Jr.-Sr. Scripture Study We will be starting a small group for Confirmed High Schoolers

and college students at the Student Center in Montevallo

(1251 Highland St.). Hope to see you there! The meeting will be at

6:00pm on Sundays.

Confirmation 3/10/18 Bishop Baker has given St. Thomas Parish the date for Confirmation for our Confirmation II class. Confirmation will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 5:30 PM. There will be more details provided to the class as we approach that date.

Our Lady of Guadalupe 12/10 St. Thomas Parish will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of

Guadalupe on Sunday, December 10 at the 2:30pm Mass. The

procession will start at 12:30pm with the Rosary inside the church

and the Mass will follow. There will be a reception in the Parish

Hall. All are Welcome.

SINGING NEW SONGS IN MASS

We would like to make the music used at St. Thomas more accessible to you! Our Journeysong hymnals contain several new songs for congregational singing. The Contemporary Ensemble also uses other approved sources for songs. Wouldn't you like to listen to, and get familiar with, these new songs the week or month before they are sung in Mass?

Santo Tomás Parroquia celebrará la fiesta de Nuestra Señora

de Guadalupe, el Domingo 10 de Diciembre a las 2:30pm Misa.

La procesión se iniciará a las 12:30pm con el Rosario en el

interior de la iglesia y la Misa seguirá. Habrá una recepción en

el Salón Parroquial. Todos son bienvenidos a traer algún tipo

de comida para compartir.

Habrá mañanitas para la Virgen de Guadalupe el 11 de

Diciembre (Lunes) a las 10:00pm-12:00am, en la Iglesia .

Becas de Las Damas Auxiliares Becas a otorgar por el Estado Damas Auxiliares cada beca será de

$750.00. Usted debe presentar la siguiente.

1. Un curriculum vitae

2. Una carta explicando por qué desea la beca y planificadas

en su carrera.

3. Dos (2) cartas de recomendación, con uno de su párroco.

Confirmación 3/10/18 Obispo Baker ha dado Parroquia Santo Tomás la fecha para la

confirmación de nuestra confirmación II clase. La confirmación

se celebrará el sábado, 10 de Marzo de 2018 a las 5:30 PM.

Habrá más detalles proporcionados a la clase a medida que nos

acercamos a esa fecha.

Penitencial de Adviento 12/14 Santo Tomás parroquia celebrar su advenimiento anual del

Servicio Penitencia el Jueves, 14 de Diciembre a las 7:00 pm.

Esta es una maravillosa manera de prepararse espiritualmente

para la Navidad.

Regalos de fin de Año La Parroquia de Santo Tomás acogería con beneplácito de fin de
