Readings-The Year of Grace Page 2 Lecturas de la Semana-El año de gracia

READINGS FOR THE WEEK Sunday: 1 Kgs 19:4-8; Ps 34:2-9; Eph 4:30 — 5:2; Jn 6:41-51 To strengthen him for the journey, God provides Elijah with cake and water, reminiscent of the ancestors’ Pasch. Thus he experiences the goodness of the Lord. Jesus the bread of life, strengthens us for our journey, following the way of love. Monday: Ez 1:2-5, 24-28c; Ps 148:1-2, 11-14; Mt 17:22-27 Ezekiel, the priest, experiences the glory of the Lord upon the cherubim. The paschal mystery will be revealed by Jesus’ death and resurrection. Tuesday: Ez 2:8 — 3:4; Ps 119:14, 24, 72, 103,111, 131; Mt 18:1-5, 10, 12-14 Sweet to the palate is the word of God which Ezekiel is called to preach. All are deserving of love and respect, especially the lowly and sinners Wednesday: THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY Vigil: 1 Chr 15:3-4, 15-16; 16:1-2; Ps 132:6-7, 9-10, 13-14; 1 Cor 15:54b-57; Lk 11:27-28 Day: Rv 11:19a; 12:1-6a, 10ab; Ps 45:10-12, 16; 1 Cor 15:20-27; Lk 1:39-56 Because she belonged to Christ, Mary, our queen, is raised on high, a great sign for all who believe in her son. Thursday: Ez 12:1-12; Ps 78:56-59, 61-62: Mt 18:21 — 19:1 Ezekiel foretells the approaching deportation in captivity of Jerusalem. Forgiveness has no limits. Friday: Ez 16:1-15, 60, 63 or 16:59-63; Is 12:2-3, 4bcd-6; Mt 19:3-12 In spite of infidelity, the Lord, the Savior, remembers his covenant. Conjugal love mirrors this eternal love of God. Saturday: Ez 18:1-10, 13b, 30-32; Ps 51:12-15, 18-19; Mt 19:13-15 Our God desires life, not death, a heart humble and contrite. The most insignificant are welcome in the kingdom of God. Sunday: Prv 9:1-6; Ps 34:2-7; Eph 5:15-20; Jn 6:51-58 Wisdom has prepared a banquet of food and wine, an image expressive of God’s communion with us. For those who desire life Jesus gives his own flesh and blood. Thus we shall be filled with the Spirit.

Simply Must Be Done,” click here. It’s that time of year again to pack up your children’s backpacks and send them off to make new friends and learn new things. Before the first day of

school, parents should take steps to ensure their child’s safety while they’re in the care of teachers and school staff. Meet all the teachers and adults that your children will see regularly. Talk to your kids about basic ground

rules for safety, privacy and security. For young children, shared bathrooms are new, and they should know what to expect. Brush up on the school’s plans for security too. For a copy of the complete VIRTUS® article “Three

Please pray for our recently deceased:

Mary Betlach, wife of Donald Betlah; Marguerita Durate

Rosemary Breech, mother of Diana Celia Montgomery, wife of Duane Montgomery

Henry Robles, father of Celia Montgomery

God our Father, Your power brings us to birth, Your providence guides our lives, and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence, their lives change but do not end.

I pray in hope for my family, relatives and friends, and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ, Who died and now lives,

may they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Amen.

Please remember their families and friends in your prayers.
