The rich man lived in luxury and went to Hell and Lazarus went to heaven. Which one do we identify with? As human beings, we are inclined to identify ourselves that come across in a positive way. We want to see ourselves as strong, caring and considerate. To be strong, caring and considerate is something that we can not take for granted. It is something to be worked at constantly. We cannot be complacent . Our 2nd reading this weekend challenges us to examine the attitude that we bring to our everyday life. Are we complacent or are we open to the possibilities that God presents to us? Let us be conscious of these situations and our surroundings. There are times that we are socially aware and socially active but are we content in our everyday situation? The readings challenges us not to be content with ourselves and the conditions of the world. Let us strive to find improvement in dealing with challenges and opportunities that are offered to us by God.

Check it out! Last Ounce of Courage This film tells the story of a man and his grandson, both devastated by the death of the son and father respectively fourteen years previously. When the grandson gets in trouble for taking his bible to school with him, ensuing events bring the grandfather to realize that something needs to be done to stop the erosion of the townspeople's rights. He takes it upon himself, as the small town's part-time mayor, to put up a giant public Christmas tree again and refusing to take it down when ordered to do so. He is fired as mayor but takes a firm stand for his beliefs, and there are changes that come about.
