*Don’t forget about Movie Mondays and Sports Thursdays!

My name is Father Guillermo Treviño Jr., I'm 29 years old and was ordained a priest just a few weeks ago, June 6, 2015. In May of this year, I graduated from Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, IL. I was born in San Antonio, Texas but moved to Moline, Il when I was three, graduating from Moline High School is 2004. My home parish was St. Mary Parish in Moline, Ill. My family

includes my mother, Maria, who was born in Mexico and two sisters, Mariela and Jennifer, three nieces all five and under, and a nephew. My father is deceased. Before entering the seminary, I studied journalism and political science at Black Hawk College in Moline, earning an Associates in Political Science in 2007 and reported for Hola America, a Spanish-language publication in the Quad Cities. I enjoy watching movies and just about every sport and rooting for the Texas teams like the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Texas Longhorns. My favorite food is a cheeseburger. In high school, I had little faith after my dad died. I wanted to be senior class president at Moline High School, and was asked what my stance on abortion was. I responded, "what's an abortion?" By the grace of God, the man who would become my best friend, Dan gave me a catechism. By the grace of God, I read it. Little by little, I started coming to mass more often and was encouraged by several priests to enter seminary. I tried to avoid it but eventually in 2008, I was accepted by the Diocese of Davenport, Iowa as a seminarian. I went to Conception Seminary College from 2008-2010 where I received a B.A. in philosophy. Three summers ago, I studied in Rome and last year, in third theology at Mundelein I studied in the Holy Land for nine weeks. I was ordained a deacon June 7, 2014 and was ordained a priest June 6, 2015. I served internships as a seminarian at St. Joseph's DeWitt, Iowa (Spring 2012), Clinical Pastoral Education at Trinity Hospital in Rock Island, a pastoral year at St. Patrick's, Iowa City (September 2012- May 2013), and served as a deacon last summer at Prince of Peace in Clinton. During this past school year, I served at St. James in Highwood, IL as a deacon. To say my life has changed since my priesthood ordination is an understatement. Being a priest is as wonderful and much more than what I had expected. I heard my first confessions two weeks ago, Saturday and had tears at the end, not because of the sins but because of the trust these people had in the mercy of God. The same thing with my first anointing of the sick, last Wednesday and the masses that I have celebrated and preached at. I am deeply humbled by the graces the Lord has given me. I grew up in the West End of Moline, but now I will live and serve the West End of Davenport and Buffalo. I look forward to meeting you at St. Alphonsus in Davenport, St. Peter's in Buffalo and St. Mary's in Davenport.

PLEASE WELCOME OUR NEWLY ORDAINED PRIEST!
