ST TERESA’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL & NURSERY ‘Living, Learning, Growing in Jesus’
NEWSLETTER - week ending 3rd July 2020 – No 38
Dear Parents & Carers, This week we’ve been busy with keyworker children, Year 1 & Year 6 back in school. Year 6 have been busy preparing for some end of year activities and it’s been lovely having more children back in school. You’ll most likely have heard the government announcement yesterday and will probably have the same questions we do. Please be patient while we go through the latest guidance for schools with staff, senior leaders and governors and then decide how this will work for our school. We hope that
by the end of next week, we will be able to share plans with you about the practical elements of September, when we aim to welcome back all pupils and of course welcome our new Nursery & Reception pupils too! As always, this will be subject to government guidance and the local picture. Fr Richard has asked me to pass on the good news that St Theresa’s Church will reopen for Mass from this weekend. Attached you will find the list of Masses. A maximum of 30 people will be permitted to attend. Fr Richard is also looking for volunteers to help to sanitise the church after Mass so please get in touch if you can help. Have a wonderful weekend.

A message from Carole Furlong,
Director of Public Health for Harrow Council:
“We are closely monitoring the local and national situation
and are in regular contact with both the NHS and Public
Health England. Together we are working to do everything we
can to stop the spread of the virus.
There is nothing to suggest there is a spike in Harrow. We’ve
had fewer than 10 cases a week in June - and as lockdown
eases we ask everyone to do their bit to help stop the spread
by staying two metres apart, wear a face covering in
confined spaces and washing their hands regularly for at
least 20 seconds.
Rumours of an imminent lockdown in Harrow are completely
untrue and without foundation”.

Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
“Come to me, all you who labour and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 This Sunday we hear how Jesus had a special care for all who are working too hard, who are tired, and who are struggling. Jesus knows that we all have times when we find life difficult. We all have times when even though we try hard, we can’t do something. We all have times when we are tired, fed up and would like to give up. Jesus reminds us that he is always there to comfort and support us. That when we are tired or finding things difficult, we can turn to him and find rest. So, this week, let’s remember we can turn to God when things are hard. But also, let’s look after others who are finding things difficult and do our best to help them. Perhaps you could pray for all those who are affected by the coronavirus pandemic across the world, or you could donate some food to your local food bank. God of all, be with us when we find things difficult. Strengthen us as we help each other, so that all people may have hope for the future. Amen We hope the prayer resources, Assembly and Sunday Liturgy (this is much shorter as some churches will be reopening) from TenTen will help you with your worship at home. The links for the coming week are on the website.
Please find below some activities your children could do. They will help them to understand the above

SAFEGUARDING – Everyone’s Responsibility!
During times of added stress, worry and financial pressure, already vulnerable children are put in even greater risk. Schools are often the safe space for these children and without the safety of school, they may feel like they have nowhere to turn. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. If you are worried about a child, from our school or anywhere in the community, it is your job to report this. Please don’t turn a blind eye. If you are worried for yourself or for your children and you feel that you need support from school, please contact Mrs Thornton on [email protected]
