Kay (continued) of our link dioceses. Our youth participated in service projects and evangelism activities in the neighbor- hood. We worshiped in the cathedral and learned about King Richard III, who has been re-interred in the ca- thedral. On our way to Ox- ford, we spent a quiet day at Coventry Cathedral, learn- ing about its peace and rec- onciliation ministry. (The church received a postcard from Coventry, thanking us for our support.) We hiked along the Thames Riv- er. We visited Harry Potter studios. We then moved to Salisbury where we stayed in the cathedral close. We visited Avebury, Stone- henge, Old Sarum, and toured the bell tower in Salisbury Cathedral. We worshiped twice each day, and spent regular time re- flecting together on our time together. The group left England on July 27. The Very Rev. Lori Modesitt and I stayed in England, and on July 28 we met up with a group of young adults (ages 15-21) from the Diocese of Leices- ter. We traveled to India with them for another pil- grimage. We spent 10 days You might have no- ticed that I was not around much after June - where was I? June 1-July 16 was mostly time spent at camp. The Diocese of Wy- oming and the Diocese of South Dakota have part- nered to provide an excep- tional camping experience for all of our youth at Thun- derhead Episcopal Camp, just over the South Dakota border between Newcastle and Lead. This year, 170 campers from both dioceses participated in our success- ful experiment of living to- gether and loving each oth- er. We shared meals and space. We participated in a program centered on the theme of Creation. We played sports, made crafts, and had fun. We worshiped and prayed together. My friend, Steve Mullaney, re- cently offered this bit of wisdom: Camp is a taste of the other world we dream is possible. On July 17, I met with teen- agers (ages 14-17) from Wyoming to travel to Den- ver, Toronto, and London for a pilgrimage. A pilgrim is a person who travels to a holy place for religious rea- sons. We planned our pil- grimage to include worship, service, reflection, adven- ture, and more. We spent several days in the Diocese of Leicester, connecting with youth and adults in one with that group touring the Diocese of Trichy, another of our link dioceses, in the company of The Rev. Suresh Kumar and many other members of the cler- gy. We shopped in Trichy, visited a Hindu temple, a church, and a boys' school sponsored by the Dio- cese. We stayed at Bishop Heber College, another in- stitution sponsored by the Diocese. We then moved to Dharapuram where we spent hours interacting with girls and women at other schools and a nursing college spon- sored by the Diocese. The wind blows hard in Dhara- parum during August - it reminded me of Casper! We then moved to Valparai, a town a mile above sea level in the middle of a tiger pre- serve - wild elephants have the right of way! We toured the Kay Tea Factory and visited a girls' hostel where girls live while they go to school. I preached at a church with the help of a translator since my Tamil is limited to about 5 phrases. Loose offerings and dona-tions during the month of September are designated to help homeless students. If you would like to donate toward this fund, please write “Homeless Students” in the memo portion of your check.

The Sunday morning Bible study begins again on Sep-tember 4th at 9:30 AM. The study focuses on each Sunday’s lectionary scrip-ture through the “Synthesis” program. All are welcome. For more information, contact Laurel Hurley.

Following Jesus

The Following Jesus Study group began meeting Au-gust 28th, will not meet on Labor Day, but will resume meeting on September 12th at 9:00 AM at City Brew Coffee. Please plan to join the group for some interest-ing and enlightening dis-cussion.

Education for

All Ages St. Stephen's and St. Mark's and other interested folks will be gathering for Godly Play and a book dis-cussion group at SSEC on Mondays, beginning Sep-tember 12, from 6:15-7:00 PM. Children of all ages, with a parent, will gather in the Godly Play room (downstairs) for a story, work, and a feast.

The book discussion group will meet in the conference room (downstairs) and fo-cus on "Reading the Bible Again for the First Time: Taking the Bible Seriously but Not Literal-ly" by Marcus Borg. Nan-cy Engstrom of St. Mark's will lead the discussion.

170 people attended the Poplar Street churches service and we raised $675 for Wyoming Food for Thought!
