PARISH NEWS

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

This weekend’s Altar Flowers were Donated In Memory of

Joyce Anderson by

Delia Reyes

FESTIVAL NEWS Another successful Parish festival has come and gone. We had a wonderful turn out of family and friends. And we even earned some money. We would like to thank everyone who helped make this event a success. A special thank you goes to Brian Dennis and all the committee chairs who assisted with the planning of the festival. A huge appreciation to all who helped prepare the booths for the event, who aided with set up and take down, who served/sold/prepared food, who worked a booth, picked up trash, led tours in the church, donated items for the various booths, auctions and raffle, entertained the crowds, and especially those who attended.

Our raffle winners are as followed: Gene Riley—$2,500 VISA Gift Card Fernando Quintero—$500 VISA Gift Card Liz Diaz—Bandera Gun Club Lifetime Family Membership Abran Oranday—Bandera Gun Club Rifle Package Beatriz Hayes—Lawnmower donated in memory of

Mr. & Mrs. G.F. Plummer by Gradie Palmer, Paula Whetstein, Lisa Thor-ton, A Cut Above.

EASTER REFLECTION First, let me wish all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day. When Paul and Barnabas were expelled from Antioch, they “shook the dust from their feet” which was a sym-bolic curse gesture reminiscent of the Jews shaking the dust from their sandals when leaving the land of the Gentiles and returning to the land of Israel. Yes, today’s readings remind us that there will be trials and persecution when we proclaim the good news of Christ. But, they also show that, if we persevere in Christ, there is the reward of being with God in the New Jerusalem for eternity.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! Fr. Frank and the Parish staff would like to wish all mothers, step-mothers, and those who have fulfilled the role of mother a blessed Mother’s Day. May

you all feel the love and joy of motherhood on this special day.

SVDP DONATIONS The Saint Vincent de Paul Society is grateful for your gen-erous support. However, we cannot give expired food products to families in need. Please check food items to be sure that they have not expired before you bring them to us for distribution to families who need food. Again, thank you for your generous support. THE BIBLE AND THE SACRAMENTS

The next Journey Through Scripture study is coming! Journey Through Scripture is an exciting series of studies developed by the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology that helps people read the Bible from the heart of the Church. But it is more than a Bible study---it is bib-lical catechesis. We read the Old Testament in light of the New and the New Testament in light of the Old, re-specting the literary and historical integrity of both Testa-ments. Our next study is The Bible and The Sacraments. This study examines the sacraments of the Catholic faith. We will investigate the deeper mysteries the sacraments contain as illuminated by scripture. The Bible and The Sacraments look at each sacrament individually, seeking to understand where they come from, what they mean, and why they are so very important and foundational to our Catholic faith. As before, we will offer Monday evening and Tuesday morning sessions starting June 24 from 6:00PM-7:00PM and June 25 from 9:00AM-10:00AM for 6 weeks. The workbook for this class is $12.00. There is an option-al supplemental book also (available as e-book, paper-back, and hardback) that may be purchased individually or through registration. The additional cost for the option-al book varies depending on choice. Please contact Melinda Lindner at 830-460-4712 or [email protected] to register.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP Thank you to the Knights of Columbus, Altar Society, St. Vincent de Paul and Guadalupanos for helping spread the word about Fr. Frank’s birthday celebration. And a heartfelt thank you goes to all the parishioners, ministries, and indi-viduals that helped make this event a huge success, espe-cially those who came out to share in the celebration. With love, Olivia Flores

THE BIBLE AND THE SACRAMENTS Our next study is The Bible and The Sacraments. This study examines the sacraments of the Catholic faith. We will investigate the deeper mysteries the sacraments con-tain as illuminated by scripture. As before, we will offer Monday evening and Tuesday morning sessions starting June 24 from 6:00PM-7:00PM and June 25 from 9:00AM-10:00AM for 6 weeks. The workbook for this class is $12.00.

G.F. Plummer por Gradie Palmer, Paula Whetstein, Lisa Thorton, A Cut Above.

LA SEGUNDA RECOLECCIÓN ES PARA SEMINARIO DE ASUNCIÓN
