The Feast of The Immaculate Conception

Father will celebrate a Vigil Mass for the

Feast of the Immaculate Conception,

which is a Holy Day of Obligation this Friday at 7:00 PM

here at St. Stanislaus.

Today’s Meditation We are in fairly good company when we ask God for justice. Often enough we hear and agree with the lament of the people of Israel asking God why the wicked prosper. However, when we call out for justice, we usually want someone to get his or her comeuppance. God’s justice is something other than this, of course.

God’s justice comprises a wonderful rightness between God and humankind. Today, Jeremiah looks ahead to a time when a just one will sprout from the shorn-off stump of Jesse of the house and family of David. Life was not fair in Jeremiah’s time. Israel’s kings held the promise of God’s fidelity, but it was difficult to see how God’s promise could be realized through them. Nevertheless, Jeremiah lifts his voice and announces that the Promised One will come. Luke’s Gospel echoes that announcement, and Paul is filled with sturdy encouragement. And so Advent begins with a promise.

Our Mission Statement

In recognition of God’s love and presence in every human being, the members of Saint Stanislaus Parish embrace the challenge to serve God and all His people. In fellowship with one another, we nurture our Catholic Faith through the celebration of the sacraments and reflection on the word of God. As a welcoming and culturally diverse Faith Community, we strive to proclaim and live the good News of Jesus Christ while providing for the spiritual and physical needs of those less fortunate.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry will resume their meetings in January 2019, the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. If you have any yarn that you would like to donate to them, they would greatly appreciate that. You can drop off materials to the office between 8 Am and Noon. Please contact Rebecca in the office if you would like a shawl for yourself or a family member. The shawls have been blessed and are a beautiful way to share the warmth and love to those who may need it.

Social Ministries Giving Tree

The Social Ministries Giving Tree is now in the Gathering Area. At this time we ask you to take a tag and fulfill the wishes of a child in need (boys and girls ages 1-12). We are requesting that all gifts NOT BE WRAPPED, instead please put the gifts in Christmas gift bags, along with the gift tag so that we make sure the gifts are distributed correctly. This year, especially we need to help those less fortunate to have

a joyful and peaceful Christmas.

Next Weekend December 8th and 9th will be the last weekend that you can bring in your gifts.

Many thanks, as always.
