PASTOR’S CORNER Dear Parishioners & Visitors,
As we gather this weekend to celebrate the 6th Sunday of the Season of the Holy Cross. We continue our observance of Respect Life Month with this year’s theme “Moved By Mercy.” It was inspired by Pope Francis’ reflection, “We are called to show mercy because mercy has first been shown to us.” Forty-four years ago the Catholic bishops in the United States designated October as Respect Life Month. Throughout this month, we are called in a special way to reflect on the gift of human life, the threats against it and how we can protect all persons from conception through natural death.
This weekend October 23rd Catholics across the country will celebrate Priesthood Sunday October 23. It is a day set aside to celebrate the importance of the gift of priesthood in the life of the Church. It is a time for us to reflect on the ministry that our priests share with us when we gather at the Table of the Lord – when we call in our times of need. Consider sharing a personal note or card of thanks. Together, we pray that many of our young people will be inspired by the ministry and witness of our priests. May their hearts be open to hearing and responding to God’s call in their lives.
Our Religious Education Program is up and running and the children are doing great. Thank you to all the parents who came and met the teachers. I ask that if you have not done so, and plan to register your child for REP, you do so by this weekend. It is important for the consistency of the program that all students are registered and in classes.
Last week’s cooler temperatures have brought out the autumn colors. The beauty all around us is the Lord’s gift to us in this present moment. As always, we pray that God continue to bless us with all that we need, and more.
Yours in Christ,
Chorbishop Alfred
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN BUILDING FUND
Please be sure to pray and to consider making your commitment
toward your pledge. If you have not had an opportunity to make
your personal response to the Capital Campaign, please consider
doing so. Again, thank you for your generosity.
We need the support of all our parishioners as well as the
benevolence of our benefactors and supporters to help us realize
not only our financial goal, but, more importantly, our God-given
mission: to create a sacred place where the healing love of
Christ and our Patron Saint Sharbel are experienced.

MYO HAPPENINGS
Our St. Sharbel MYO held their first spiritual night of the year on Friday, October 7th at the Church Office Chapel. , the theme was "Thy will be done". Our guest speaker, Khouloud Yammine brought us closer to the Lord's Prayer and gave us a new understanding of what we are praying when we say the Lord's Prayer every day. The MYO had a great time coming closer to each other and to God through a beautiful spiritual night and cannot wait for more to come!
THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
OCTOBER 15 – NOVEMBER 20
Our Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive has begun and will continue
through November 20th. Please bring your nonperishable food items
with you to Mass on the weekend or to the Church Office. Gift cards
to a grocery store are also welcome!
We will assemble food baskets to give to families who are
experiencing a hardship for Thanksgiving.
If you know of someone who could benefit from receiving one of
these baskets, please submit their name to the Church Office. All
information will be kept confidential. Thank you!
