Stewardship
Recognizing and Receiving God’s Gifts
“Stewarding our Gifts: Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life."
Sunday, August 13, 2017 Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
1kgs. 19, 9a, 11-13a / Rom9: 1-5/Mt.14, 22-23 Is it always necessary for God to do big grandiose things in order to get our attention? Sometimes it seems that way. But in both the first reading and the Gospel today, God was not found in the fires, earthquakes or winds, instead he was found in the quiet calm that followed the calamities. As Christian stewards, let’s apply this to our lives. Glorifying God with our lives does not always mean doing seemingly impossible things that change the world! Sometimes it simply means being the calm in the storm. Allow your life to reflect the peace that we experience in the presence of the Lord!

Pope’s Universal Intention: Artists. That artists of our time, through their ingenuity, may help everyone discover the beauty of creation. “Jesus, I am so undeserving of your mercy, but I ask in faith. Just say the word, and I will be healed”

What’s Happening at St. Rose
Religious Education As we near the end of Summer, it’s time to begin thinking about Parish School of Religion (PSR) for our children. We have numerous returning teachers for the 2017-2018 school year, but we are still in need of several volunteers to teach a class or be teacher’s helper. This is an im-portant responsibility to nurture the spiritual life of our children. I hope you will consider joining us as you reflect on your parish stewardship. Please contact Julie Gallo-way at 620-528-3797 (home) or via e-mail at [email protected] to discuss further. Thank you.
Holy Day of Obligation Tuesday, August 15 is a Holy Day of Obligation. Father will have Mass here at St. Rose at 5:30pm on Tuesday. Mass at St. Anthony will be Monday at 5:30pm and Tues-day at 12:15pm at the Nursing Home.
