Fill out the form in the brochure in the church titled Gathered and Sent and drop completed form into the offertory collection, mail to the rectory, call Joan Schultz at 973-376-1960 or [email protected]. You will be contacted to set-up a new member meeting. The meetings are held in the Devine Center on Sunday mornings at either 10am or 12pm.

The life of our parish is guided by the parish mission which is to educate, form and transform persons into disciples of Christ and to foster their active participation in the life, work and mission of the Church. All parishes are called to be schools of discipleship assisting the People of God with the ongoing life long conversion required to be followers of Jesus Christ. It is in our parishes, families and in the world that we are living witnesses to Christs love and the faith we profess. Discipleship is our invitation to continue Christs saving mission here and now and through generous stewardship change the world!

Stewardship Reflection for First Sunday of AdventDecember 2/3: The season of Advent is upon us, and in todays Gospel Jesus delivers a simple message through the pen of Saint Mark: Be watchful! Be alert! Christian stewards understand what Jesus meant when he said, Its like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task. Good stewards realize that to each one a task is assigned by God. They have been set in a particular place and station in life, and have been gifted with unique relationships. How do we respond to the tasks or cultivate our relationships in a way that keeps us alert for the return of Christ?

  • Wow! Your generosity is incredible. With the overwhelming support of the parish we were able to provide 273 families with a complete Thanksgiving Dinner which will feed over 1200 people. In addition, we collected and distributed 49 turkeys. We thank Kings Food Market for providing the shopping bags and Trader Joes for the donation of 30 turkeys. Thank you all for your generous support!

    Thanksgiving Basket Collection!

  • The parish celebrated Thanksgiving at Mass and gave thanks to God for all the blessings in our lives. The Knights of Columbus provided a coffee social immediately following under the tent. Thank you for all who helped make the celebration at Mass and the social so wonderful. It was the perfect way to start the day!

We continued sharing our gifts of food on Thanksgiving Day, when we delivered all of the food presented at the Thanksgiving Day Mass during the offertory collection to the Rosary Shrine in Summit. The sisters there were so grateful for the fresh fruits, vegetables and breads from our table to theirs.

Finally, last weekend we also held our regular monthly food collection and with your generosity we filled the parish van with more food to be delivered to pantries served by the Emergency Food and Nutrition Network. Thank you to all of our stewards in action who helped us to live the Corporal Works of Mercy so well.

    HOSPITAL VISITATION:

We are dedicated to visiting the sick because Jesus has shown us that our presence to them is not simply comforting but healing. Hospitals in recent years have been forced to carefully monitor visits by non-family members. Clergy, therefore, are welcome but must know beforehand, who is currently being treated in a hospital or other healthcare facility.

Therefore, please notify us when a member of your family is currently or shortly will be hospitalized or in another healthcare facility so that we can be a familiar presence to them during their stay in a local hospital, rehab center or nursing home. Please call the parish office at 973-379-3912 and leave the name and location of your family member.

  • A Catholic approach to exceponal educaon.

The second grade students in Mrs. Carangelos class were buzzing with excitement while they explored the engineering process through a fun hands-on activity. After reading the book, Jump Frog Jump by Robert Kalan, the students identified a problemthe frog was constantly trying to escape predators! Next, the students asked themselves what they could do to help the poor frog?

ANSWER: Build a structure tall enough to keep the frog out of the reach of the hungry crocodile! Once the problem was identified and a solution was imagined, the students were divided into groups. They were given specific materials to build the tall and sturdy structure that could support their plastic frogs high above the water. Students first sketched design ideas and discussed plans with their group. Next, the children worked within their cooperative groups and created their tower.

After testing their structure by placing the plastic frogs on the tower, the children made changes to the original design. Within a specific amount of time, the children needed to complete the structure and measure the height. With clipboards and observation logs in hand, students were able to walk around and view the other groups final product. Success! Some groups were able to save the frog!! The children were so proud to be called Engineers!
