FROM THE PASTOR
CHRIST IS RISEN!
INDEED, HE IS RISEN!
I am so grateful for all those who helped in the planning, preparation, and carrying out of our beautiful Triduum and Easter liturgies last week.
It takes an immense amount of work to conduct these intricate ceremonies in an organized and dignified fashion, and I could not have been more pleased with the result.
These liturgies are acts of worship of God, so all of the efforts that we put into the Sacred Liturgy, however remote, are themselves like spiritual sacrifices lifted up through Christ, to the Father, in the Holy Spirit.
In particular, I would like to thank our choir members and directors for their many hours of rehearsals and willingness to learn some new music.
Special thanks also to our church decorators who helped make all of the rapid changes necessary between Holy Thursday and Easter Sunday, and have left our three churches just stunningly beautiful for the Easter season.
My gratitude also to our sacristans, lectors, schedulers (is that a word?), greeters, ushers, Paschal-fire-builders, cooks for our Good Friday luncheon, and many others who helped out in various ways, too numerous to name.
A final word of thanks to our Deacons and servers who worked closely with me in additional rehearsals for each liturgy.
This Sunday is now commonly referred to as Divine Mercy Sunday, in homage to the writings of the early 20th century Polish nun, St. Maria Faustina Kowalska.
Devotion to the Divine Mercy message, image, and chaplet have been exploding in recent decades; in many ways becoming one of the most beloved private devotions in the Church of our era.
Many parishes are now offering special Divine Mercy devotions and events on this Sunday, and I regret that in the busy preparations leading up to Holy Week, I never made any concrete plans here in our parish.
But confident that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing even on minimal notice or planning, I would like you to invite everyone to a special Divine Mercy Holy Hour this Sunday, April 8th at 3:00 pm at St. Dominic Church.
The plan will be as follows:
3:00 pm: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and brief homily on the message of Divine Mercy
3:15-3:45 pm: Confessions during adoration
3:45 pm: Singing of the Divine Mercy chaplet
4:00 pm: Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament
Please join us if you are able!
In the hearts of Jesus and Mary, Father Peter Van Lieshout
SPRING CLEANING IN OUR CEMETERIES
Our caretakers need to get the cemeteries tidied up and ready for spring lawn care.
St. Agnes & St. Francis cemeteries do not have trash pick up so please remove your items and dispose
of them with your own trash.
St. Rose would appreciate the same consideration.
With your cooperation and participation, we can keep our cemeteries beautiful while we honor our loved ones.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIMELY RESPONSE.
CONFESSION SCHEDULE CHANGE
Father will not be available for confessions at St. Dominic on Friday, afternoon, April 13th at 5:15 pm or
at St. Francis Saturday evening at 7:00 pm.
There will be confessions on Saturday, April 13 th before the 4:00 pm Mass with the visiting priest.
