ADULT MINISTRY Carolyn Nolan

[email protected] Marriage Tip: If you want someone to

change, encouragement is more effective than criticism. Look for one thing about your spouse or child’s behavior that you can compliment today.

Visit: www.foryourmarriage.org Baptism Prep Classes - meets on Tuesday, April 17th , from 7 – 9 pm in the Birch Library. You need only one godparent and this person must be Catholic; to have celebrated Confirma-tion; is at least 16 years of age, and is practicing the faith (attending mass each week and celebrat-ing the sacraments.) Marriage, Divorce & Annulments from a Catholic Perspective-The Tribunal of the Arch-diocese of Baltimore will be giving a presentation in our area concerning divorce and annulment from the Catholic perspective. This presentation will be helpful for divorced Catholics & those di-vorced who wish to marry Catholics. Session will be Monday, May 7th @ 7PM at St Ignatius Loyola in Ijamsville (Multipurpose Bldg. C). No prior registration required-call 410-547-5533 for fur-ther information. Neighborhoods at Prayer - The Family Rosary is a bedrock devotion for the family. The Blessed Mother asks all Christians to pray the Rosary daily. The Rosary is the "rose garden" of sanctity for children. The Holy Spirit teaches us: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). We are encouraging families to gather to-gether weekly or bi-monthly with your neighbors to pray the rosary together. Pray for your fami-lies, your neighbors, the Church and all other needs. The family that “prays together, stays to-gether.” We will provide you with rosary book-lets to get you started and rosaries, if you need them, to begin praying in your homes with your fellow neighbors. Contact Carolyn if you are in-terested in participating.

YOUTH MINISTRY Kenn DeMoll

Compost Sale: May 5th and 6th after all Masses youth ministry will be selling compost in 39 gallon bags for only $10 a bag! If you buy 3, it’s only $25. All the compost comes from our very own St. Peter’s grounds which is guaranteed to make your garden better (and certainly holier J). LIFE TEEN: April 22nd: WIPE OUT! What do you do when you “wipe out” in your faith life? How do you get back up? Make sure you bring a towel because we’re going to get a little “wet” this night! EDGE: April 22nd: Called By God: We’re on a mis-sion from God! Do you know what that mission is? It’s kind of like a secret agent mission! Join us as we teach you a new fighting style for secret agents called “sparrow” fighting (think bumper cars only funnier). We’ll also teach you how to discern what your vocation is! Confirmation: You should have received an e-mail from Kenn telling you to sign up for service projects. If you didn’t, please get in touch with him ASAP! Spots are filling up!

Appalachia July 8– 14, 2012

Whose ready for Appalachia? For the past 20+ years, St. Peter’s has been taking a group of teens to King-

wood, WV to work on home repair projects. You don’t have to be a master craftsman to come with us (but if

you are, we’d love to have you : )) Cost for teens is $175, with a deposit of $75 due at registration. Space is lim-

ited! Sign up today!

BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY: Our Bereavement Ministry is formulating our path. We are here with the goal that no member of our St. Peter’s family suffers through grief alone. We intend to do this through a card/note ministry at intervals to the grieving, a support group for those who have suffered a loss & individual visits to parishioners. We will start our support group in May & it will run for six weeks. We will be using a Catholic grief support program called Seasons of Hope, which will help us answer Christ’s call to console the mourning. Adults of all ages find Christ on their journey of sorrow and they have the opportunity to support each other and build their faith community. We will be attempting to give comfort through using the Church’s teachings & provide fresh ways to cope with sorrow Rose Grimes & Marybeth Terrell, Bereavement Ministry Team PARISH NURSE NOTES: Get My People Going – Week 8 – Friendship God did not create us to be alone – from the very beginning, God created us to be in relationship with others.

Whether we live quietly alone, or in a large and boisterous family or dorm, we need friends to be fully whole. God sent Moses to Pharaoh with his brother, Aaron. There is significant data to show that people with strong social networks tend to be healthier and stay healthier longer. Also, it appears that when one person takes care of their health, others close to them are more likely to take care of their health as well. Take some time to connect with a friend – today. Join us Thurs, Apr 26 in the lower level of Sullivan Hall from 7pm – 8pm to discuss how having friends and relationships is so important for our well-being. ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER : Thank you to all those who have been using Electronic Funds Transfer, or EFT, and also to those who have just recently signed up to participate in this dependable and easy way to give your weekly donations to St. Peter’s. it was brought to my attention that since there are several months that have 5 Sundays, we may be shorting the church. When deciding to give a weekly amount you can use this formula to correct this issue: Weekly amount x 52 weeks then divide by 12. This will give you a monthly amount that can be easily donated while still accounting for those months with 5 weeks. The EFT program allows St. Peter’s to be more accurate in budgeting monthly expenses. If you are interested in more info, please call Liz at 301-898-5111 ext. 19. THINKING ABOUT HOMESCHOOLING ?
