SUNDAY, JUNE 14, 2015 Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Dear Friends, “Hooray! Hooray! It's A Holi-Holiday! What a world of fun for everyone, holi-holiday.” When I was a kid back in the 70s, this verse was a summer anthem of many kids. It is a refrain of a disco hit, and I am sure you find it strange, that a declared rock fan, quotes a disco song. Well, once in a while it is good to let free the rein of imagination. Sometimes school teachers assign summer homework to the kids. Recently, an Italian teacher gave to his students a following one: dance without a shame, don’t swear, be kind, take a lonely walk along the beach, wake up at the sun rise, be as joyful as the sun and read a lot of books. I would add: find extra time for Jesus. Find some time for an extra prayer, visit a lovely old church, and in the silence listen to what God is telling you. After all, there is never a holiday from being a close follower of Christ. This issue of our parish bulletin marks an end of another school year. But it also marks a closing of the first year of service in a new place of worship of the English Speaking Ex-Patriot Community of Warsaw. I must say the transition was not an easy one, at least not for me. I want to thank you all, who supported me and the Augustinians along this journey. I must admit, in this last year, many times I felt like Moses who took the Israelites out of Egypt and then was challenged by God regarding his own faith. Many things had to be organized in a new way and then reorganized. Moving and change is never an easy process or task. Thank you to all of you who helped me to be a better priest. Usually at the beginning of the summer many parishioners leave our parish. There is a large group to leave us this year and it is hard to mention all the names. However, I would like to bid a special farewell to some people. First, after 21 years in this parish George and Iza Słoczyński are leaving us. George was our faithful reader and Iza, his wife, was our extraordinary Eucharistic minister. They saw this community in many stages. Their two boys grew up among us, and they also saw your parish priest grow older. We all hope that they will be happy in their new assignment and will return safely from their new and uneasy mission. A special farewell goes to Coleen, who held a position of charity coordinator. Although this is not a farewell, in September Fr. Piotr will leave us for 6 months in order to improve his English in an Augustinian multicultural parish in Hoxton, London. Fr Piotr will be back in February 2016. SUNDAY, JUNE 14, 2015 Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

“Hooray!

Although this is not a farewell, in September Fr. announced earlier, Mrs. Conch Tuison Yao is leaving her position as a CCD coordinator, after 4 years of amazing work and dedication to the children and community. A big THANK YOU too all of them! We will continue our ministry here at St. Paul’s all summer, although it will be limited to Mass and confession only. CCD (religious education) will resume in the fall. Have a great holiday and do come back to your parish in Warsaw, Poland. With best regards

NEWS FROM YOUTH GROUP

Christine Berka and Teresa Villamin, from our parish youth group are going on vacation to Czech Republic from 3

August till 9 August 2015. There will be a meeting of young volunteers to plan and prepare the Augustinian Youth

Encounter 2016. Please keep them in your prayers! More information can be found on

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: 31st ANNUAL WORLD YOUTH DAY in Krakow, 25 - 31 July, 2016

About 7,000 people already signed up to attend the vigil Mass on the 30th with Pope Francis.

Parish Potluck As it has already announced, our Lomianki spring parish picnic was postponed this year. We plan to have it on September 13, so please mark your calendars for this social event. This will be a chance to celebrate the start of the new academic year, to welcome new parishioners who might join us during the summer, as well as to welcome back all those returning after the summer vacation.

NEW MASS TIME

We have already shared the information that our Mass schedule will be changed from the present time of 12:15 to 15 minutes earlier, to 12:00 noon. Change in schedule is necessary so that we don’t interrupt the Polish parish at the end of their service, as it happens now, and so that we can start our service in a more timely manner. At first we have announced that the change will happen starting July, however, Polish parish needs a bit more time to rearrange their schedule so the change will take place with the first Sunday of September. The CCD times will be adjusted, too, and the details about it will be shared at the start of the new academic year.

PARIS COUNCIL VACANCIES We have some urgent needs for volunteers to fill in the vacant positions on the Parish Council. If you would like to help organizing CCD program please contact Fr. Wieslaw or any member of the Parish Council. Below are the most pressing needs: 1) CCD COORDINATOR - We were lucky to have Conch run this program so successfully and with great commitment all by herself for a number of years. However, she has decided to step down and be more available to her family. Ideally we would like to have 3 people to share this important responsibility: a) program coordination/logistics, b) books/materials/curriculum, c) sacraments/retreats. Conch will still be in our parish and is willing to provide the necessary guidance to new volunteers during the transition phase. Also, quite a few areas have already been arranged by her ahead of time to be ready to restart the program in the fall. The start of the new CCD year is planned for September 19 with the registration period before it. 2) CHARITY COORDINATOR - Coleen, our present coordinator, is moving back to the States for some time; main responsibilities are to coordinate Advent and Lenten charity actions 3) ASSISTANT PIANIST - we need a volunteer who can play piano to assist our organist Ewelina when she is absent 4) READERS - a few of our regular readers have left Warsaw recently or will be leaving this summer and we are in need of new volunteers. Please join us if you can. Also, let us know if you could help guide and train our youngest readers who read during the periodic Masses for children

THANK YOU BAKERS Our community is so blessed with diligent and generous bakers who provide treats for our after Mass fellowship. We continue to gather after Mass to enjoy a sweet bite with a cup of warm coffee or tea over a friendly chatter. For this we deeply thank Kate Szyszko,

Iliana Cruz, Grace, Puring, Visalda family, Cherian, Berka family, Vuina family, Pauline, Jennifer Sturgeon, who all baked during this spring, as well as all the others who contributed throughout this academic year! We appreciate you - - - and we also hope you continue in the fall!

GOOD BYE & THANK YOU! In a transient community like ours, this time of the year always brings rather melancholic feelings when we need to say good bye to all those who will leave Warsaw during the summer. This year we have to say good bye to quite a few parishioners who not just attended the services regularly, but also assisted the life of our parish in various ways: as readers, Eucharistic Ministers, gift bearers, bakers, supporters of our charities,… Thank you for your engagement, your contributions and for your volunteering in our community of faith! May the Lord repay you manifold! We wish all of you safe relocations whether back to your home country or to your new destination. You will be missed here in our parish and we send our prayers and blessings with you! Best wishes!
