6th Sunday in Ordinary Time
T he college football team has a strict dress code
and a strict code of behavior. Student athletes
must dress well, sit in front of all classes,
maintain a B average, attend mandated study
hall and do community service hours each month. It’s a
matter of pride and integrity to be a member of the team,
and each player supports the others in the effort to be his
best.
Jesus had just chosen the Apostles, the 12 men who
would be His closest companions and the first preachers
of the Gospel. At the very beginning of their time togeth-
er, Jesus outlines what is expected of those who would
preach and live the Kingdom. Their attitude, treatment of
others, dependence on God and the quest for holiness
will mark the life of a believer.
It’s easy to become complacent with religion. People fall
into the good habits of going to church, supporting their
parish and volunteering from time to time. But the mis-
sion is not to sustain the way things are, but to shake
things up, to be signs of the Kingdom that announces a
new way of life, justice, peace and mercy. Be more than
a pew warmer. Carry the message with passion and ur-
gency. Live the Beatitudes and you’ll
live the life of the Kingdom of God.

Las bienaventuranzas
Oración introductoria:
G racias, Señor, por mostrarme el camino de las biena-
venturanzas como la única vía para llegar a Ti. Éste
es el sendero que los santos se han esforzado en
recorrer. Ayúdame para que esta oración me dé la
luz y la fuerza para ser pobre de espíritu, humilde, hambriento
de justicia, misericordioso, puro de corazón y trabajador por la
paz.
Reflexión: El mensaje cristiano es desconcertante. ¿Cómo dice
Jesús que son más felices los pobres, los hambrientos, los que
lloran y los que son odiados? ¿Acaso no es mejor ser rico, co-
mer bien, reír y tener buena fama? Las Bienaventuranzas nos
dicen que es preferible ser pobre que apegarse a los bienes mate-
riales. Porque sólo un corazón desprendido puede llenarse de
Dios. El que tiene su corazón lleno de cosas, ¿dónde puede al-
bergar a Dios? ¿Le quedará algún hueco para El?
Podemos inspirarnos en las Bienaventuranzas para hacernos un
programa de vida. El primer objetivo será despegarse cada día,
poco a poco, de algo superfluo. Para eso hay que ponerse metas:
cada semana, cada mes, etc. El segundo objetivo es el del
“hambre espiritual”, el hambre de Dios.
Vamos a cultivar nuestro espíritu con unos
minutos de oración al día, con lecturas pro-
vechosas, con la cercanía a los sacramentos,
procurando que en nuestra casa desaparezca
el ruido y haya más silencio. El tercer pro-
pósito se refiere a los sacrificios. Hay que
aprender a sobrellevarlos con elegancia,
ofreciéndolos a Jesús como Él ofreció su
cruz por nosotros. Y por último, tomando la
cuarta Bienaventuranza, hay que lograr vi-
vir cristianamente, con coherencia, dando
testimonio aunque otros nos miren mal.
Propósito: Hagamos todas estas cosas con
alegría, sabiendo que la recompensa será

BÀI ĐỌC 1: Gr 17,5-8 Ngôn sứ Giêrêmia giới thiệu hai con đường : một dẫn đến hạnh phúc và một dẫn tới bất hạnh: Con đường dẫn đến hạnh phúc là đặt niềm tin nơi Chúa. Ngôn sứ diễn tả hạnh phúc ấy bằng những hình ảnh thiên nhiên cho dễ hiểu : Người đặt niềm tin vào Chúa là người đi trên con đường có nước, có bóng cây, có hoa trái…Con đường đưa tới bất hạnh là đặt niềm tin nơi người đời. Người đi trên con đường ấy chỉ gặp sa mạc khô nóng, đồng khô cỏ cháy, đất mặn, không bóng mát… ĐÁP CA: TV 1
BÀI ĐỌC 2: 1 Cr 15,12-16.20 Người dân Côrintô chịu ảnh hưởng triết lý hy lạp nên không tin có việc kẻ chết sống lại. Để giúp tín hữu mình tin vào giáo lý ấy. Thánh Phaolô đưa nhiều lập luận: - Nếu kẻ chết không thể sống lại thì tại sao Đức Kitô đã chết mà đã sống lại ? Nói cách khác, việc Đức Kitô phục sinh là bằng chứng rõ ràng về việc kẻ chết sống lại. - Đức Kitô không chỉ có khả năng làm cho bản thân Ngài sống lại, mà còn có thể làm cho tất cả những ai tin vào Ngài được sống lại như Ngài. - Nếu chúng ta đặt niềm tin vào Đức Kitô chỉ vì đời này mà thôi thì chúng ta là những kẻ đáng thương hơn hết mọi người.
TUNG HÔ TIN MỪNG: Alleluia, alleluia! Chúa nói: Anh em hãy hớn hở reo mừng vì phần thưởng của anh em trên trời rất bội hậu - Alleluia.
PHÚC ÂM: Lc 6,17-26 Có thể coi đoạn Tin Mừng này là Bài giảng đầu tiên của Chúa Giêsu trước đông đảo dân chúng (bài giảng thứ nhất ở quê hương Nadarét, Lc 4,16-30, chỉ giảng cho đồng hương Ngài nghe). Bài giảng này có những điểm giống và những điểm khác với bài giảng trên núi trong Tin Mừng Matthêu : Trong khi Thánh Mát-thêu ghi lại 8 lời chúc phúc của Chúa Giêsu, thì thánh Luca chỉ ghi 4 lời chúc phúc kèm theo 4 lời quở trách. - Những kẻ được chúc phúc là những người nghèo, đói khát, đang phải khóc lóc, bị bách hại. - Những kẻ bị chúc dữ là những người đang giàu có, no đầy, vui cười, được tâng bốc. Điều nên chú ý là : không phải tự thân sự nghèo nàn khổ sở là hạnh phúc, thực ra chúng mang lại hạnh phúc vì chúng giúp người ta không dính bén với trần gian để hướng lòng về Chúa. Cũng không phải tự thân sự giàu có sung sướng là xấu, nhưng chúng có thể trở thành nguồn bất hạnh khi chúng trói buộc lòng con người vào thế giới vật chất đời này.
Chuyện minh họa:
a. Người hạnh phúc nhất: Nhà vua bị bịnh nặng. Quan ngự y lo lắng, nhưng đành bó tay. Một nhà chiêm tinh đến bảo vua chỉ khỏi bịnh khi nào được mặc chiếc áo của một người hạnh phúc nhất. Quan quân đổ xô đi khắp nước để tìm người
hạnh phúc nhất. Cuối cùng thì họ cũng tìm được một người hạnh phúc thực sự. Nhưng khổ thay, người ấy quá nghèo, chẳng có lấy một chiếc áo !
b. Bí quyết sống vui: Một vị giám mục nổi tiếng hiền hoà, dễ mến. Khi được hỏi bí quyết, ngài đáp bí quyết đó là: Thứ nhất, tôi nhìn lên trời để nhớ rằng đời tôi phải tới đó. Thứ hai, tôi nhìn xuống đất để thấy phần mộ tôi sau này thật nhỏ hẹp. Thứ ba, tôi nhìn chung quanh để thấy bao người nghèo khổ mà đáng kính trọng hơn tôi. Thứ bốn, tôi học để biết hạnh phúc thật nằm ở đâu, mọi nổ lực của tôi sẽ chấm dứt thế nào và những than thở của tôi thật vô cớ biết bao!
Cầu Nguyện: Lạy Chúa Thánh Thần, xin hãy đến soi sáng cho chúng con hiểu được giáo huấn của Ðức Giêsu trong đoạn Tin Mừng này. Ðức Giêsu, Ngài là Thiên Chúa với tất cả uy quyền tuyệt đối. Tại sao Ngài lại trở nên nghèo hèn như chúng con? Ðức Giêsu suốt một đời chỉ biết dạy dỗ, giúp đỡ những người đau khổ, bệnh tật. Ngài có tội gì mà tại sao bị kết án tử hình? Nhưng chính nhờ cái chết của Ðức Giêsu mà chúng con được ơn cứu độ. Vâng, lạy Chúa, giờ đây chúng con hiểu được phần nào ý nghĩa của cái nghèo, cái khổ. Nghèo khổ tự nó không phải là mối phúc, nhưng nếu là dấu chứng của một tình yêu vị tha, thì nó sáng chói và trở nên vô giá. Lạy Ðức Giêsu, xin hãy dạy con biết yêu như Chúa yêu. Amen.
