On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore. And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. But some seed fell on rich soil and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time A community work project took place on a hot and humid morning. College students helped younger students, keeping a watchful eye on them as they were picking up trash, painting playground furniture and hanging new signs. Halfway through the morning, everyone headed for the shade of a weeping willow tree and a drink of ice-cold spring wa-ter. It really was refreshing. The shade and the water revived us and we were ready to finish our work. Everyone had a good time and contributed to our success. Jesus never said that life would be easier because we believe. He only promised that He would be with us always. In our work and struggle, He is always near, giving us purpose and hope as we join our work to His as a prayer and an offering to the Father. We never struggle in vain, for even our smallest efforts join us to heavenly powers. Our work may be difficult and tiresome, but the Lord is always watching over us. He makes sure we have the strength and the rest we need to complete our mission. His love never fails. Entonces Jesús les habló de muchas cosas en parábolas y les dijo: “Una vez salió un sembrador a sembrar, y al ir arrojando la semilla, unos granos cayeron a lo lar-go del camino; vinieron los pájaros y se los comie-ron. Otros granos cayeron en terreno pedregoso, que tenía poca tierra; ahí germinaron pronto, por-que la tierra no era gruesa; pero cuando subió el sol, los brotes se marchitaron, y como no tenían raíces, se secaron. Otros cayeron entre espinos, y cuando los espinos crecieron, sofocaron las planti-tas. Otros granos cayeron en tierra buena y dieron fruto: unos, ciento por uno; otros, sesenta; y otros, treinta. Cầu Nguyện

Lạy Chúa Giêsu, xin cho con trở nên đơn sơ bé nhỏ, nhờ đó con dễ nghe được tiếng Chúa nói, dễ thấy Chúa hiện diện và hoạt động trong đời con.

Sống giữa một thế giới đầy lọc lừa và đe dọa, xin cho con đừng trở nên cứng cỏi, khép kín và nghi ngờ.

Xin dạy con sự hiền hậu để con biết cảm thông và bao dung với tha nhân.

Xin dạy con sự khiêm nhu để con dám buông đời con cho Chúa.

Cuối cùng, xin cho con sự bình an sâu thẳm, vui tươi đi trên con đường hẹp với Ngài, hạnh phúc và được cùng Ngài chịu khổ đau. Amen.
