St. Odilia Virtual Fall Festival 2020!
From Fr. Rask:
60 years ago St. Odilia was
founded with an emphasis on
community, engagement and
outreach. Since June, a
group of seven fearless Fall Festival Leaders with
determination and resolve decided community and
outreach could still occur through a virtual Fall Festival.
Our 51st Fall Festival has been planned with intentional opportunities for you
to be engaged in many ways; through delivering fall festival raffle packets to
parishioners homes, handing out tickets at the drive up events, donating online
auction items, volunteering to make baskets, and more. You reached out
beyond our community with donations to the Listening House. Several of you
solicited and picked up donations from local businesses for the online auction.
Many of you will gather with friends and family this weekend as you enjoy the
Backyard band virtually.
60 years later St. Odilia still is not a community unto ourselves. Because we
gather as a people of faith, we are able to make an impact on the broader
community and in our world. Enjoy the virtual festival weekend and send your
photos to the festival team at [email protected] to share how you were
engaged in celebrating our 51st virtual festival.
In Christ,

New Live Streaming Ministry Have you been wondering what's up with that box in the back of church? Are you looking for a volunteer-ing activity that involves lots of standing around and provides one of the few reserved pews in St Odil-
ia? St Odilia is in the process of creating a new ministry and needs your help. You probably have noticed we now provide Masses and funerals online. This is called live streaming and we need operators to create these video streams. What do you need to know? Have you been to a Catholic Mass or funeral before? Can you aim a camera? There will be training provided to show you how to read a script and select the best camera shot for the various parts of the Mass. If you are interested please contact Kim Al-brecht 651-415-3339 or [email protected].

Faith Formation Department Mission Expansion to Include Discipleship Encounter/Form/Send
You may have noticed that the titles of our Faith Formation staff have been changed to reflect a Discipleship and For-mation element. The department’s goal is to establish strategies to accomplish our parish goal of creating a cul-ture of missionary discipleship. We welcome all and pro-vide opportunities for every person to grow in holiness and draw closer to Jesus Christ – every day and at every stage of life. The added emphasis on discipleship is a wider un-derstanding of the work of formation that builds faith and leads to living as a disciple. We seek to provide opportuni-ties to draw closer to Christ first by an encounter of Him, our risen, living and true God who speaks to us through the Church’s sacred scriptures, her life of prayer and worship, through academic study and by personal witness and faith sharing. The department seeks to help each person reach their religious potential, live in a vibrant relationship with Christ and be formed within the tradition of the Catholic Church in order to be sent for witness, evangelization and mission.

Growing Through Loss In this time of social distancing, wear-ing masks and isolating ourselves, when a loss occurs in our lives or the death of a loved one occurs it can
change the way we grieve. Our more common rituals, that can provide comfort and support are changed. Because of these unusual and difficult circumstances we are planning on holding the fall Growing Through Loss series at Incarnation Lutheran Church 4880 Hodgson Road, Shoreview. Due to a scheduling conflict, the series will begin one week earlier on consecu-tive Thursday evenings, 6:45pm, from September 10 through October 15. We feel this grief support ministry is very much needed at this time. All en-tering the building must wear a mask and maintain the 6 feet apart physical distancing. If you are in need of this support please consider attending this Thursday evening series. To receive updated information visit www.growingthroughloss.org or call Deacon Jim at 651-415-3354. ~Blessings from the Bereavement Committee and the Pastoral Care Council of St. Odilia.

Social Justice
A divided country. Fights at the dinner table. Politi-cal vitriol. What does it mean to love our neighbors in the midst of such a climate?
As Catholics, we have a long tradition of putting our faith in action through engagement in the political process. Don’t allow the vitriolic rhetoric you hear to turn you and others off from engaging in the public square. Join Civilize It, a Catholic call for all people to honor each other’s dignity by engaging in respectful dia-logue. Take the pledge and find resources at CivilizeIt.org to bring civility to your home, school, workplace, and community.
Voting and Values: Integrating Faith in the Public Arena

©LPi

SEPTEMBER GREEN ENVELOPE DONATIONS SUPPORT ST. ODILIA ENDOWMENT FUNDS
Please consider a contribution to either the St. Odilia Endowment Fund or the St. Odilia School Endowment Fund which supports the many ministries of our community. Now more than ever this permanent, self-sustaining source of funding helps to provide the financial stability necessary to support our ministries during these uncertain times. The St. Odilia Endowment Fund has seven sub-funds for donors to designate their charitable gift through: Worship, Faith Formation, Pastoral Care, Social Justice, Capital Expenses, Faith Formation Scholarships, and Undesignated. Gifts to the St. Odilia School Endowment Fund can be designated toward the general needs of the school or to the Connor Anderson School Scholarship Fund, which supports tuition assistance. We are grateful to Endowment Fund benefactors and donors who share confidence in our mission and whose generosity is vital to providing financial resources that support the Catholic Community of St. Odilia. While donations of $1,000.00 or more receive benefactor status, donations of any amount are valued and appreciated. You can contribute through an online gift by visiting our website at www.stodilia.org and click on the Give Online tab or by making a check out to St. Odilia Endowment Fund OR St. Odilia School Endowment Fund and specify the sub-fund in the memo line.
