1. The visit of St. Nicholas – Today, Sunday, December 3rd

Special Liturgy in honor of St. Nicholas is at 10 AM to be followed by traditional St. Nicholas Luncheon at 11:45 a.m. in the church hall. We especially welcome all parishioners and guests to attend the St. Nicholas Play at 1:15 PM (free admission). The children participating in Religion, Ukrainian and Preschool will honor him by presenting a play. St. Nicholas will come to visit and to give his gifts to the good children.

2. Christmas Confession - will be held on Friday Dec. 15th

from 5:30-7:30 PM and Saturday, Dec. 16 from 9:00 AM-11:30 AM. Visiting Priest will be available. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Please prepare yourself for Confession.

3. Parish Membership - We welcome all our visitors and guests who worship at St. Nicholas. To become members, please register with us by calling the Church Office at 273-6752.

4. Mittens - Thank you for 24 cold weather items donated in Oct. & Nov. Many people are feeling the cold. To help them, please donate handmade (or purchased) hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens to be given to the Watervliet-Green Island Food Pantry and distributed to those who need them the most. Please place donations in the MITTENS box in the back of the church.

5. Meetings: Pastoral Council – will hold their meeting on Wed., Dec. 6 at 6:00 pm Stewardship Council – will hold their meeting on Tue., Dec 12 at 6:00 pm

6. The End of the Year - As we approach the end of the year, you may wish to review your offering envelopes to see if you postponed or overlooked any that you want to make up before the books are closed on December 31, 2017.

7. Greeters for 2018 - Soon the 2018 schedule for first and second liturgy greeters will be produced. Anyone who would like to be added to or deleted from this schedule, please contact Sandy Chuhta @ 279-3547 (Eng.) or Fr. Mikhail (Ukr.)

8. Usher / Money Counter Schedule for 2018 – will be completed soon. We always welcome new volunteers; no experience is required. Please contact Zoriana Mangione (518-899-9075 or zmangion59@gmail.com) or Nicholas Fil (518-785-7596) if you wish to be added to this schedule. Those wishing to be removed from this schedule will reassign to another ministry of their choice.

9. Patronize our Advertisers - on the back of our weekly bulletin are the names of those who advertise with us. We ask that you please patronize these generous people. We wish that God may grant them many successful years in their profession.

10. Parents – If you would like donation envelopes for your children for 2018 please request them from the church office, 273-6752 or email to office@cerkva.com.

11. Unique Christmas Gifts – This holiday season, please consider giving the gift of your time and talent, while reaping happiness at the same time! We are looking for individuals, pairs/couples or families to donate a small amount of time to help with these ministries:

1) Delivering donated food items to local food pantries (suitable for volunteers from either liturgy, less than 1 hour, once per month)

2) Delivering left over bread products to Joseph’s House (suitable for volunteers from the second liturgy, about 30 minutes, once per month)

3) Becoming an usher/money counter for either liturgy (suitable for pairs/couples, about 30 minutes, once every 5-6 weeks)

PYROHY/VARENYKY SALE DECEMBER 9TH, 2017

We are appealing to ALL parishioners, younger and elder; to anyone

willing and able to be a part of this fundraising event. The work

schedule is detailed below. Please note that Saturday’s events will

begin with making the pyrohy, with a 5am start time, and will

conclude with the food sale from 3pm to 6pm. Volunteers are desperately needed to

prepare the food that will be sold, package and sell it, then clean the hall and kitchen after

the sale. Any time you can give will be much appreciated. Please come to help.

Літургія о 10-й год ранку, а Святковий Обід о 11:45, Святкова Вистава о 1:15 год дня і вхід на виставу приготовану дітьми Української Школи та Садочку та Релігійної Програми - вільний. Заохочуємо усіх парафіян привести своїх дітей та онуків. Також просимо про

подарунок для дітей-сиріт на Україні.

3. Продукти для бідних – “Watervliet – Green Island Food Pantry” потребують харчі, продукти та речі домашнього користування. “Будьте моїми послідовниками” закликає Господь, тож і ми стараймось уподібнитись до Нього у любові, щедрості та милосерді.

1. Збори Церковних Комітетів та Організацій: Пасторальної Ради – відбудуться у середу 6-го грудня о 6:00 год вечора. Ради Управління - відбудуться у вівторок 12-го грудня о 6:00 год вечора.

7. Фінансовий Рік 2017 – підходить до свого закінчення. Хай кожен перегляне свої конверни пожертв, чи бува ми чого не доглянули. І якщо ви ще хотіли б зробити пожертву на будь-яку ціль, то зробіть її ще до закінчення цього року.

8. Конверти Пожертв – зближається кінець року, і ми знову обновляємо списки імен парафіян на наступний 2018 рік. Бажаючих отримати конверти-пожертв на наступний рік просимо подати ваші дані до парафіяльного офісу, зателефонувавши 273-6752 (у середу та п’ятницю) або e-mail: office@cerkva.com. Просимо батьків заохочувати дітей, що досягли віку зрілості та закінчили навчання у коледжі, стати повноцінними членами парофії.

10. Різдвяна сповідь – запланована на п’ятницю 15 грудня (у вечір) та суботу 16 грудня (зранку). Запрошені отці з інших парафій. Приготуймося до Святої Сповіді. Не пропустіть

цієї нагоди.

11. У випадку поганої погоди – в майбутньому у випадку дуже поганої погоди у неділю, відправлятиметься лише одна Служба Божа в укр. і анг. мовах в 11-й год ранку.

12. Святі Тайни Хрещення, Миропомазання та Причастя – Просимо звертатися до парафіяльного офісу не пізніше ніж за місяць до прийняття тайн. Батьки та Хресні повинні зустрітися з отцем або дияконом та назначити дату приготування до Хрещення.

13. Різдвяний Дарунок– Різдво – це час святкування народження Божого Сина, Ісуса Христа – Божого Дару для нас людей. Тому і ми радіючи приносимо дари один для одного. Сьогодні ми пропонуємо Вам подарувати трішки свого часу для нашої Церкви. Одноосібно, подружжям чи сім’єю, подаруйте свій час допомагаючи у наступних служіннях:

1) Доставка харчів для “Food Pantry” (до пів години часу- раз на місяць) 2) Збірка та рахунок парохіяльних пожертв (30 хв., раз у 5-6 тижнів)

Epistle: (Ephesians 5:9-19): Brethren, live as children of light—for the fruit of the light is found in all that

is good and right and true. Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly; but everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Sleeper, awake!” Rise from the dead, “and Christ will shine on you.” Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts.

Gospel ( Luke 18:18-27): At that time, a certain ruler asked Jesus, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honour your father and mother.’” He replied, “I have kept all these since my youth.” When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “There is still one thing lacking. Sell all that you own and distribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” But when he heard this, he became sad; for he was very rich. Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?” He replied, “What is impossible for mortals is possible for God.”

Апостол: (Еф 5, 9-19): Браття, поводьтеся, як діти світла. Плід світла є у всьому, що добре, що справедливе та правдиве. Шукайте пильно того, що подобається Господеві. Не беріть участи в безплідних ділах темряви, а радше їх картайте, бо що ті люди потай роблять, соромно й казати. Все, що ганиться, стає явним у світлі, а все, що виявляється, стає світлом. Тому говорить: Прокинься, сплячий, і встань із мертвих, а Христос освітить тебе. Тож уважайте пильно, як маєте поводитися: не як немудрі, а як мудрі, використовуючи час, бо дні лихі. Тому не будьте необачні, але збагніть, що є Господня воля. І не впивайтеся вином, бо в нім є блуд, а сповнюйтеся Духом. Проказуйте між собою вголос псалми й гимни та духовні пісні, співайте і прославляйте в серцях ваших Господа.

Алилуя(глас 1): Бог богів, Господь мовив, і призвав землю від сходу сонця до заходу(Пс 49,1). Стих: Зберіть Йому преподобних Його, що заповідують завіт Його в жертвах(Пс 49,5).

Євангеліє: (Лк 18,18-27): У той часприступив до Ісуса один знатний і спитав: “Учителю благий, що мені робити, щоб успадкувати життя вічне?” А Ісус озвавсь до нього: “Чому мене звеш благим? Ніхто не благий, хіба один Бог. Ти заповіді знаєш: не перелюбствуй, не вбивай, не кради, не свідкуй ложно, шануй свого батька і матір.” Той же відповів: “Все це я зберіг змалку.” Почувши те Ісус, сказав до нього: “Одного ще тобі бракує: продай усе, що маєш, і роздай бідним, і будеш мати скарб на небі; тоді прийди і йди слідом за мною.” Почувши це, той засмутився вельми, бо був дуже багатий. Глянув Ісус на нього й мовив: “Як тяжко тим, що багатства мають, увійти в Царство Боже! Легше пройти верблюдові крізь вушко в голці, ніж багатому ввійти в Царство Боже.” А ті, що слухали, сказали: “Хто ж тоді може спастися?” Він відповів: “Неможливе в людей, можливе є в Бога.”
