ST NICHOLAS OF MYRA COVID-19 RESPONSE

(SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS NEW DIRECTIVES BECOME AVAILABLE)

It is important to be aware that all Catholics in the Diocese of Parramatta are dispensed from their Sunday obligation until further notice. In other words, the Bishop has removed the Sunday obligation to attend Mass during this

Pandemic.

IF YOU STILL WISH TO JOIN THE EUCHARIS-TIC CELEBRATION, PLEASE:

• Consider carefully your health and those of your community.

• Practice personal hygiene. • Observe the current social distancing policy. • Receive communion in the hand. • Refrain from shaking or embracing at the

invitation of peace. A simple nod or smile to your neighbour is appropriate.

PLEASE DO NOT JOIN THE CONGREGATION AT ANY MASS IF YOU:

• Are worried about being at risk or are at high risk of contracting the virus.

• Should be avoiding public gatherings, due to health reasons.

• Are feeling unwell with flu like symptoms. • Have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-

19 case, or • If you have travelled overseas in the past 14

days

DAILY MASS: Daily Mass will go ahead with a head count at the carpark entrance to ensure the Indoor social distancing policy is kept. Once we receive capacity the doors will be closed and the microphones for outside will be switched on, Please follow the directions of the Priest at the time for communion

RECONCILIATION: Please follow the directions of the Priest at this time.

PARISH PRIESTS CORNER

In response to Covid- 19 ( Corona Virus) the following

cancellations are in place until further notice: Catho-

lics from the Diocese of Parramatta are dispensed

from their Sunday Mass obligation until further no-

tice.

CANCELLATIONS

• The family session for first Reconciliation is cancelled

and the Sacrament of first reconciliation is postponed

to later time of the year

• Until further notice all the parish meetings and group

prayer gatherings are cancelled, so parish hall and PMR

1 will not be available until further notice for groups.

• Sacrament of Baptism will take place on Sundays as of

now for those who have already booked, but they are

limited to 12 people per Baptism. Families have the

option to postpone or cancel

• The church will be open as usual for the faithful to

come and spent time with the Lord in their personal

prayer.

• Communion to the sick in the nursing home as of now

is cancelled, but upon request from the family or Indi-

vidual, the sacrament of sick will be provided.

• Bishop’s Catholic foundation appeal has been post-

poned to until further notice

It is likely that Masses that are open to the public will

be cancelled in the coming days, if so, then the priests will

offer private daily Mass in our church for the intention of the

people. There will be opportunity for parishioners to watch

these Masses live through Facebook.

People who have specifically requested prayer inten-

tions and who have given Masses to be offered for their

loved ones will be offered during any private Masses.

In short, except for Holy Mass all other public gatherings on

our premises have been cancelled until further notice.

Our Priest will be always available for the spiritual needs of

the faithful or to talk them.

For pastoral guidelines and update please check our

website, Facebook and parish bulletin etc.

Every believer is called to evangelise and spread the

message of Christ. Our parish community has been tremen-

dously serving in and around Penrith around 180 years and

this has been possible only through your generous support

of stewardship. This weekend we will not be passing the

collection plate, but both first and second collection will be

collected in the same basket as you leave the service. Please

continue to support the parish community and please

strongly consider giving through Direct debit or Credit Card

to help our church through this crisis.
