Corpus Christi and Ministry Leader Appreciation June 2 is the Feast Day in which we celebrate and give thanks for the gift of the Holy

Eucharist…Corpus Christi Sunday. The parish will have a special celebration at the

5:30 Mass on June 1. This is also an opportunity to recognize the ministry leaders who

have served our parish this past year. The two celebrations fit together in a special way.

In the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, we do three things: walk to the Lord, stand

before the Lord as one body, and kneel in adoration before the Lord. Can you see how

ministry leaders assist us as individual parishioners on this journey to the Eucharist? One

example is how ministry leaders help individuals engage in parish ministry. They assist

in our “walk to the Lord”. If you would like to share your story of how you have been

blessed by engaging in parish ministry, please write a short note and drop it off in the

PPC mailbox located in the Volunteer Hub [attention ‘Susan’] or email Susan at

[email protected]. The stories will be shared with the ministry leaders on June 1.

Thank you!

Catholic Social Teaching: A Call to Action The Catholic Church proclaims that human life is sacred and that the dignity of the

human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society. In our society, human

life is under direct attack from abortion and euthanasia. The value of human life is be-

ing threatened by cloning, embryonic stem cell research, and the use of the death penal-

ty. Catholic teaching also calls on us to work to avoid war. We believe that every per-

son is precious, that the measure of every institution is whether it threatens or enhances

the life and dignity of the human person.

Source: Publication No. 5-315, USCCB Publishing Washington, D.C., ISBN 1-57455-315-1 , Text is drawn

from Sharing Catholic Social Teaching: Challenges and Directions (Washington, DC: USCCB, 1998) and

Faithful Citizenship: A Catholic Call to Political Responsibility (Washington, DC: USCCB, 2003).

What can I do?

Pray and reflect on the meaning of life and dignity of the human person

Support human life throughout God’s kingdom

a [email protected]. Las historias serán compartidas con los líderes de Ministerios

el 1 de Junio. ¡Gracias!

St. Monica Worship Space Study:

Renovate, Repair, Re-Design, Remove,

Re-Purpose--Choices Ahead for Our

Parish The Church teaches us about what we believe in many ways; through

Scriptures, Tradition, dogma and the Liturgy. But it also teaches us

through “the Silent Gospel”, its sacred art and architecture.

Everyone is invited to come and learn how the Church reaches out to us and opens up the

treasures of our faith through the art of the art of the centuries in a series of three

educational sessions presented by Br. Martin Erspamer, O.S.B, a monk of Saint Meinrad

Archabbey. The sessions will discuss topics such as what we need to know before we

plan and why churches look the way they do. Why have art in church? Why not? How

does one church serve many purposes? Why is St. Monica the church we have? And

why changing a church is difficult! Come learn how a church connects us to God and

each other!

Educational Sessions will take place:

May 25 9am-12noon St. Augustine Room

June 1 9am-12noon St. Augustine Room

June 15 9am-12noon St. Augustine Room

You may sign up in the narthex at our information table until the weekend of June 8-9.

Signing up is not mandatory, but appreciated for planning purposes!

Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body of

parishioners who assist the Pastor in guiding the parish on issues

requiring practical wisdom and investigation. The PPC has three

purposes: 1) to investigate pastoral matters; 2) to give these

matters in-depth consideration and prayer; and 3) to propose

practical conclusions and assist in cultivating our vision. Twelve

parishioners discerned their participation on PPC for a three-
