What happened at this moment in history at Fatima? Our Lady’s Visit to Fatima Children, September 13, 1917 A diverse group of 30,000 endured the hardships of travel in 1917 to be present in the fields at Fatima for the anticipated September 13 visit of Our Lady. Some came to scoff and ridicule and rebel in their atheism. Others came out of curiosity. Many came to pray the Rosary. Finally they heard Lucia ask, “What do you want of me?” Our Lady’s reply: “Continue the Rosary, my children. Say it every day that the war may end... In October, Our Lord will come as well as Our Lady of Sorrows and Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Saint Joseph will appear with the Child Jesus to bless the world… God is pleased with your sacrifices… In October, I will perform a miracle so that all may believe.” The Role of the Guardian Angel of Portugal On several occasions in 1916 the Guardian Angel of Portugal appeared to Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta to prepare them by prayer and teaching for the visits Our Lady would make to them the following year. When the Angel gave Holy Communion to the children, he told them to pray three times the Trinity Prayer he had taught them. He also said, “Eat and drink the Body and the Blood of Jesus Christ, terribly outraged by the ingratitude of men. Offer reparation for their sake and to console God.” The Fatima children diligently did all the Angel taught them about prayer, suffering in reparation, and the doctrine of the Holy Eucharist. St. Michael Prayer Now Needed More Than Ever On October 13, 1884, exactly 33 years before the great Miracle of the Sun at Fatima, Pope Leo XIII was inspired to compose a Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. He decreed that it be said throughout the Universal Church after every low Mass and be followed by the Hail, Holy Queen Prayer. (“Low” meant not “high” or sung.) Pope Leo realized the importance of calling upon heavenly helpers to combat the relentless efforts of evil forces. The practice of the congregation praying these two prayers was maintained until about 1970. In 1994, St. Pope John Paul II urged all Catholics to recite the St. Michael Prayer again. “…I invite all not to forget it, but recite it in order to obtain help in the battle against the forces of darkness and the spirit of this world.” Today in many churches the St. Michael Prayer is again said by the congregation after every Mass. Our perilous times cry out for St. Michael’s powerful intercession. On September 29, the Church remembers the three Archangels mentioned by name in the Bible: Michael, whose name means “Who can compare to God?”, battles Satan and guards against evil. Gabriel, who delivered God’s message to the young Mary, is a patron of communications. Raphael, as recorded in the Book of Tobit, is a healer, a travel guide and a patron of happy marriages. What happened at this moment in history at Fatima?

Our Lady’s Visit to Fatima Children, September 13, 1917A diverse group of 30,000 endured the hardships of travel in 1917 to be present in

the fields at Fatima for the anticipated September 13 visit of Our Lady. Some came to scoff and ridicule and rebel in their atheism. Others came out of curiosity. Many came to pray the Rosary. Finally they heard Lucia ask, “What do you want of me?”

Our Lady’s reply: “Continue the Rosary, my children. Say it every day that the war may end... In October, Our Lord will come as well as Our Lady of Sorrows and Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Saint Joseph will appear with the Child Jesus to bless the world… God is pleased with your sacrifices… In October, I will perform a miracle so that all may believe.”

The Role of the Guardian Angel of Portugal On several occasions in 1916 the Guardian Angel of Portugal appeared to

Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta to prepare them by prayer and teaching for the visits Our Lady would make to them the following year.

St. Michael Prayer Now Needed More Than EverOn October 13, 1884, exactly 33 years before the great Miracle of the Sun at

Fatima, Pope Leo XIII was inspired to compose a Prayer to St.

October 2: Feast of the Guardian AngelsSince the 17th Century the Universal Church has honored the Guardian Angels in October. Your angel’s role is to guide you as a messenger of God’s will, and to guard you, especially from sin and Satan’s malice. Our angels are eager to help us. Call on yours often – every day, day and night.

September 15, Our Lady of SorrowsMary is indeed the greatest of martyrs. She shared in Christ’s redemptive work, experiencing her Divine Son’s rejection, torture, ridicule, agonizing death and His burial. The earliest devotions to her sorrows were related to Jesus’ passion, death and burial. Later they included all her sorrows, beginning with Simeon’s prophecy.

Mary’s Seven Sorrows+ Prophecy of Simeon (Luke 2:34)+ Flight into Egypt (Matt. 2:13)+ Loss of the Child Jesus (Luke 2:43)+ Meeting Jesus Carrying Cross (Luke 23:26)+ Standing Beneath the Cross (John 19:25)+ Receiving Jesus’ Body (Matt. 27:57)+ Burial of Jesus (John 19:40)

In honor of Our Lady of Sorrows we are offering The Seven Sorrow of Mary as given to St. Bridget of Sweden Plasticized folder includes prayers and full-color illustrations. Suggested donation $2.50 includes postage.
