~Parish Mission Statement~

We are the Family of St. Maurice at Resurrection Parish joined together sacramentally in Jesus Christ, sharing our skills and abilities across the

world to nourish all human hungers. We continually renew our energies by celebrating around the Table of the Lord and grow to be

more effective ministers.

in the name of Jesus. Amen.

THE WORD OF LIFE

"Do not continue in ignorance, but try to discern the will

of the Lord." —Ephesians 5:17

St. Jerome asserted: "Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance

of Christ" (Catechism, 133). If we are ignorant of Christ, we will

not discern the will of the Lord (Eph 5:17). This means we will

not make "the most of the present opportunity" (Eph 5:16).

But through knowledge of the Scriptures and through good discernment of God's

will, we are saved from a futile (see 1 Pt 1:18), vain (see Eccl 1:2) existence.

Therefore:

"Keep this book of the law on your lips. Recite it by day and by night,

that you may observe carefully all that is written in it; then you will

successfully attain your goal" (Jos 1:8).

Let the law of the Lord be your joy, and study God's law day and night

(see Ps 1:2).

Devour God's words and make them the joy and happiness of your

heart (Jer 15:16).

Abide in God's Word (Jn 8:31).

Devote yourself to the apostles' teaching (Acts 2:42). Each day study

the Scriptures (Acts 17:11).

Preach God's Word and "stay with this task whether convenient or

inconvenient — correcting, reproving, appealing — constantly teach-

ing and never losing patience" (2 Tm 4:2).

How precious is God's Word! Love, live, and proclaim His Word.

Prayer: Father, may I daily read and joyfully obey Your Word.

Promise: "I Myself am the Living Bread come down from heaven. If anyone eats

this bread he shall live forever; the bread I will give is My flesh, for the life of the

world." —Jn 6:51

Praise: Praise You, risen Jesus! You are the Living Word, the Word of Life. All

glory be to You forever!

Mass Intentions

Bringing Forward the Offerings of Bread and Wine

If the announced intention of the Mass is for YOUR

intention, we invite you to carry those offerings forward

at the Presentation of the Gifts. If you would like to

carry the offerings during your Mass Intention, please

notify Joanie the Head Sacristan (if you don’t know

Joanie, ask an Usher to find her for you) before mass.

This is a great way to enhance your

mass intention and offering.

Dressing appropriately for Mass during the summer months, or in south Florida year round can be a challenge due to the heat. We want you to be comfortable, but appropriate for

Church. Attire that is meant for the beach, or a BBQ is not always appropriate in Church.

What you wear reflects who you are, don’t let it say the wrong things……

Stay covered up, no cracks in front or in

back—wear loose fitting cloths,

and modesty counts!! Your attitude in what you wear, will get

you gratitude!

Those who are seriously ill or facing

surgery, as well as those in danger of death, should receive the Sacrament

of the Anointing of the Sick. Call the Parish Office

and request a Pastoral Care Visit. 954-961-7777

Remember, we never take a vacation from our

obligation to attend Mass. Visit www.masstimes.org or

the Masstime App to find mass times at local churches

for Saturday Vigil or Sunday Mass.

And Have a Great Time!!

Do you know our parish window Saints?

Junipero Serra

Born November 24, 1713, on the Spanish island of Majorca, Junipero Serra came from humble beginnings. When Serra was 15, he decided to join the priesthood. Junipero Serra spent his early career as a Franciscan educator in Palma, Spain. He was in his thirties when he became a missionary. First he worked to spread the word of God in Mexico in 1750s and 1760s before moving to present-day California.Serra while traveling to Mexico with a former student, they landed in Vera Cruz and walked 250 miles to Mexico City. Along the way he suffered an injury to his leg, which would cause him pain the rest of his days. Serra established nine missions there from 1769—1782. He died in 1784 at the age of 70 at the Mission of San Carlos, one of the missions he founded. He was beatified in 1988 by Pope John Pall II and canonized in 2015 by Pope Francis. Pope Francis made Junipero Serra a saint during his first visit to the United Sates. A special mass was held at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. on September 23, 2015. This marked the countries first canonization. Pope Francis said that Serra “sought to defend the dignity of the native community, to protect it from those who had mistreated and abused it. Mistreatment and wrongs which today still trouble us, especially because of the hurt which they cause in the lives of many people.”

¿Conoces nuestro parroquia ventana Santos? Junipero Serra

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK??

The Purpose and Meaning of the Ten Commandments

The 7th Commandment is about Honesty “Thou shalt not steal.”

God instructs us to show our love and respect for others by not stealing what belongs to them. God’s approach to material wealth is balanced. He wants us to prosper and enjoy physical blessings. He also expects us to show wisdom in how we use what He provides us and He does not want possessions to be our primary pursuit in life. When we see material blessings as a means to achieve more-important objectives, God enjoys seeing us prosper. To Him it is important that generosity rather than greed motivate the choices we make. Because they are qualities of His own character, He asks that we, from the heart, put giving and serving ahead of lavishing possessions on ourselves. The seventh and tenth commandments focus on respecting and honoring the possessions of others. This commandment forbids the act of taking someone else’s property. The Catholic Church believes that this commandment also denounces cheating people of their money or property, depriving workers of their just wage, or not giving employers a full day’s work for a full day’s pay. Embezzlement, fraud, tax evasion, and vandalism are all considered extensions of violations of the Seventh Commandment.
