Whole School Events - Feast Day, Friday, 23 May Another event we can look forward to— Feast Day – Mary, Help of Christians—on Friday, 23 May. Fun
activities will be held on the oval for most of the morning, followed by a sausage sizzle lunch. More details
will be provided closer to this date.
Kindy Parent Advisory Committee Thank you to those parents who attended our first Parent Advisory Committee Meeting for your enthusiasm
and much-welcomed contributions. It was decided at this meeting that we would continue to meet
once per month, so Tuesday, 3rd June at 5.30pm, has been set as the next tentative date. In the mean-
time, we will be emailing the Minutes of Meeting to each family, so those parents who are unable to at-
tend meetings can still contribute to the discussions and be aware of upcoming events.
Kindy Tuckshop & Vege Stall
The next step in our gardening project is for the children to experience how the fruit and veges can be
used after they are harvested. We discussed a couple of ideas at the PAC meeting, both of which could
double as curriculum experiences and fundraisers. The first was holding Kindy Tuckshop Days each
month. At a cost of say $5 per child, the children could make their own morning tea and lunch using the
items they have grown. Parents may like to assist by sharing their recipe ideas or joining us for the cooking
activities. Another idea was the children running a Vege Stall once per month. Further details will be
provided this week.
Teacher-Child-Parent Interviews For those parents who wish to attend an interview, a schedule will be available this week for you to
nominate a suitable timeslot from the following times and dates :-

Overdue Term 1 Fees - due Friday, 16 May 2014
Thank you to those families who have finalised their fees for Term 1. There are however still a number in

The St Mary’s Green Team Visit the Kindy
By Emily McCartney and Hannah Stewart (Year 6)
“On Tuesday the Kindergarten Children had a surprise visit from the Green Team. The students received a
lesson on everything to do with recycling. They participated in an activity that demonstrated how to sepa-
rate the rubbish from recycling. The students got prizes every time they put the rubbish in the right bins.
There was also a special appearance by Eco Owl which the Kindies enjoyed a lot. The students also learnt
which bins were which (Yellow lid for recycling and the Green lid for general waste). The Kindies are looking
forward to meeting the Bee next week too.
Mother’s Day Project
“Why do we celebrate Mother’s Day?” “How can we show our Mums how special they are to us?”
These are the ideas the children brainstormed and that guided our program over the next two weeks.
Levi suggested, “Give them presents.”
Hardy shared his Mum’s idea - growing grass seeds that spell “MUM”.
Anna suggested, “We could make jewellery. My Mummy will love that.”
Macy suggested, “We could make a card.”
Sampson suggested, “Invite them to play with us. We could have a party with them.”
Lucas said, “We can sing to them Happy Mother’s Day.”
Darcy Franklin suggested, “We could play in the sandpit with them with the shovels.”
Hardy suggested, “We could get the diggers out too.”
Makiya suggested, “And cooking in the sand pit.”
Kynan suggested, “Have party food.”
Kye suggested, “Play games with Mummy.”
Paige suggested, “We could have cake for them with decorations.”
Teresa suggested, “They need a party hat too.”
Lincoln suggested, “We could play ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf?”
Darcy Weeden suggested, “Do a painting of Mummy & Me.”
