Greeter Ministry

The practice of hospitality to

strangers by the Christian community is older than the Church itself. Most first time

visitors come to church as a response to a crisis or a change in their lives. It takes courage to attend a new church. It is important that the

first person they meet helps them to feel

welcome and a part of our community. We welcome everyone to the Lord’s Table by Jesus’ Invitation. That welcome begins at the door of the

church with a smile and greeting from a parishioner.

We are looking for your warm and gracious

smile to help our Greeter Ministry! There is no

age limit—teen agers to retired persons are welcome to join in this fulfilling ministry. It’s a

great way to earn service hours at your High

School! All that is required is a smile and 15 minutes of your time before Mass. Please call the

Parish Office (255-3404) to spread the Light

of Christ with your smile and warm greeting.

The Year of Consecrated Life

Pope Francis has called for a special year-long focus

on consecrated life, asking the Church’s religious sisters, brothers, and priests to “wake up the

world” with their testimony of faith, holiness and

hope. The Year of Consecrated Life is scheduled to begin on November 21, 2014 and will conclude in our diocese on November 21, 2015. The year and celebration will begin in prayer with an opening

Mass on November 21, 2014 at 7:00 PM at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. All are wel-

Holy Orders and vowed Religious Life: Anyone

interested in ordained or vowed religious life is

invited and encouraged to talk to Fr. Tom or to Deacon Bill.

paign for Human Development needs your support. With the tradition of improving educa-tion, housing situations, and economic develop-

ment, CCHD continues to make a positive impact in communities nationwide. Please help manifest Catholic social teaching

America. Defend human dignity. Give to the CCHD Collection.

2014-2015 High School Boys & Girls Basketball Sign-Up

St. Mary will have on-line sign-up for CYO HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL for boys & girls who are

parishioners of St. Mary of the Assumption in grades 9 -12

Junior Varsity is for 9th and 10th grade only - Varsity is 9th through 12th grade

High school basketball teams are parish based. ONLY parishioners of St. Mary of the Assumption are eligible to sign-up to play. Players from a different parish MUST sign up to play for their parish! If, and

only if, a player’s parish does not sponsor a team is that player eligible to play for the next clos-

est parish to his/her home address. If St. Mary's is the next closest parish, then the player must get approval from their parish's Athletic Director to leave that parish to play for St. Mary's. Once that is

approved an Eligibility Request Form (ERF) must be obtained (CYO website) and filled out completely then turned into St. Mary's Athletic Director for final signature. CYO has final say as to whether or not that

player is eligible to play for St. Mary's.

Sign-up is from Sunday, October 12th through Sunday, November 30th

The fee to play will be $100

Below is the link to sign-up your child or children https://www.sportspilot.com/Register/Family/Default.asp?ASOID=106204

If your child is NOT signed up by November 30th they will be placed

on a waiting list and are not guaranteed a roster spot.

Sign-up fees are non-refundable

Any questions or coaching inquires, please contact

Gary Kohl, Athletic Director @ (440)343-2647

or email [email protected] or

Jamie Buzzanca, Basketball Coordinator @ (440)413-9530

O Wisdom of God, through whom all things were fashioned. Remake the human race in God’s own image. O Wisdom most pure, you are the light by which we see. Shine your light on the path we must follow. O Wisdom of God, you are the truth that sets us free. Shower upon us the gifts that make us true disciples of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
