Dear Friends,

This past weekend it was announced that there was going to be a CASE training this past Thursday and on July 10th. For those of you who don’t know, CASE stands for: Creating A Safe Environ-ment. It is a training course that the Diocese of Rochester (and many other diocese’s) require of volunteers, especially if you are going to be working with children or vulnerable adults (adults with special needs). This training is needed so that in case of a mishap or accident, we are able to say all of our volunteers have been trained to avoid any insurance or legal problems. It is because of the generosity of our volunteers that we are able to offer the programs that we do in our parish. But it must be emphasized it is mandatory that all of our volunteers be what we refer to as CASE trained. If I understand correctly, the training is good for three years and then a renewal must be done. All of our staff are required to do it including myself. Is it an inconvenience? Somewhat, but it does not take long and it means parents who entrust the care of their children with us can do so knowing their children are safe. Thank you so much for your understanding of this and especially thank you for volunteer-ing. And again, the next training will be on July 10th at Hartmann Hall at 6:30 pm.

God bless,

Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC)

The RCIC is a process for children who need to be baptized and/or receive First Eucharist and Penance. Typically this is for children 8 years of age and older. If the person is older than 16, they would be in the RCIA process.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

The RCIA is a process where persons considering membership in the Catholic Church come together in a weekly program to share a journey of faith. We begin by explaining the entire process and answering any questions. Each person, children over eight years and adults, are given time to decide if he or she wishes to become part of this faith journey. Participation is voluntary and may be discontinued at any time.If you are interested in finding out more about the above programs please contact Anna Steele at 2943065 or [email protected]
