VISION STATEMENT
Our students are encouraged to be active learners. They are taught to reflect critically and to be creatively
engaged in their own learning. Thinking skills are explicitly taught in all classes.
Our learning experiences are rich and diverse, with emphasis put on worthwhile processes and products.
Students are supported in their learning by appropriate technology And challenged to engage with the world
beyond our immediate boundaries. We research the best educational practice in order to enhance our teaching.
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Children,
Last week a number of our students participated in the
Performing Arts Festival (Christian Dance section) at
Mercy College. Our children’s liturgical dance was
excellent and they received a Certificate of Merit for their
performance. For those who are unaware, liturgical
dance is a form of Christian prayer. Our Year 3 and 5
classes together with the Irish Tap dancers are
completing their final rehearsals before their big night on
the 21st August at the convention centre.
This coming Friday is the Feast of the Assumption and a
holy day of obligation for Catholics. Our children will be
attending the scheduled parish mass at 9.00am on this
day in the church. Please note there will be no assembly
on Friday. Our year 6 classes will be presenting their
assembly item the week after on 22nd August.
Approximately 60 children from years 4-6 competed in
the ICAS maths competition earlier today. It was great to
see so many children having the enthusiasm and confi-
dence to participate in the challenge. We hope they are
rewarded in their results which should be known in a few
weeks’ time. Meanwhile the results of the Science ICAS
competition have been released to schools. We will be
acknowledging the higher achievements of some of our
students at assembly on the 22nd August.
The Eagles have continued their great form of late and
kept their finals hopes alive for the moment. The Freo
boys lost a close one against Geelong last week and face
some stiff opposition at home this week against the
Hawks. Let’s hope we don’t have a Mundy Mourning
like last week.
Be happy and enjoy the coming week
David Hunter - Principal
