Linda was a gifted and versatile artist in both her style and expression as well

as in her use of artistic medium. By nature and preference, she was an ab-

stract artist with many of her pieces making statements about life, politics and

the environment. She saw these pieces as invitations to conversation on the

issues. She was a fine representational artist as well. She was especially adept

as a colorist which gives many of her pieces that "Deater look".

Ms. Deater thought of herself as primarily a watercolorist. Many of her wa-

tercolors then became the foundation for mixed media pieces. She also

worked with oil, acrylics, pastels and pencil.

Some of her creations have received na-

tional recognition in juried shows by the Na-

tional Watercolor Society and the Associa-

tion of Experimental Artists. Her work has

been shown in galleries here, in Florida as

well as in Spain, New York, Chicago and Los

Angeles.

In keeping with her wishes, Linda Deater’s

works are now for sale with all proceeds

going to enhance St. Luke’s Episcopal

Church ministry to the poor. There will be

something for everyone with prices ranging

from $25 to $1500.

Deacon’s Corner

Let’s Eat at Ruby Tuesdays on October 10th!

Good news!! We talked with someone who installs water purification

systems all over the world with Living Waters for the World. He says the

cost of the system is $2000 and the cost in Cuba is $1000. That is a

much lower estimate than we had received before and is much more

feasible. We are working hard to raise funds through the Silent Auction

on November 21.

Towards that end, Ruby Tuesdays in Lake City has offered to do a “Give

Back” program for St. Luke’s on October 10th. Please plan to eat at

Ruby Tuesdays any time during that day.

Be sure to pick up a flyer on the water system from the church, or

download one from our website, http://www.stlukesliveoak.org/ to iden-

tify yourselves as being from St. Luke’s, and they will return 20% of their

proceeds to us for the Cuba Water System!

Ushers Needed

We have an opening for an usher for the 11am services and

the Christmas Eve service at 11pm with Keith Leibfried.

Please notify the church office if you can serve at 362-1837.
