WHAT IS CRS RICE BOWL? Celebrating its 40th year, CRS Rice Bowl is Catholic Relief Services‘ Lenten faith in -action program for families and faith communities. The program invites Catholics to live in solidarity with our poorest and most vulnerable brothers and sisters through the three Lenten pillars of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Par-ticipants journey through the 40 days of Lent with daily reflections in-cluded in the Lenten Calendar and on the CRS Rice Bowl mobile app. You‘ll receive ideas for small, sacrificial gifts to fill your Rice Bowls as you read and watch Stories of Hope from individuals and communities whose lives have been changed by CRS Rice Bowl

Our participants have now celebrated their Rite of Sending Forth

and Election and the time is fast approaching for their next and

most exciting goal, the reception of their Sacraments at the Easter

Vigil.

This time of Lent is a time of repentance, prayer and deep soul

searching as they prepare for Easter. The Elect (those who will

be Baptized) along with the Candidates, will be receiving

Confirmation and Eucharist, and the Confirmandi will be

confirmed. The Candidates & Confirmandi will also be receiving

the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to the Easter Vigil.

Another part of this intense period of Lenten preparations for our

participants is the blessings they will receive on the 3rd, 4th and

5th Sunday of Lent. On these Sundays, the Gospel readings

known as “The Scrutinies” are selected to give us pause to reflect

on Jesus’ love and His forgiveness of sin. It is a time to reflect

more deeply, and to scrutinize ourselves so that we may face our

sins and purify ourselves in preparation for His Resurrection.

This is an intense time for our participants and we ask that you

keep them in your prayers.

If you are interested in RCIA, please contact the Faith Formation

Office @ 433-2777 Ext 138.
