Catholic Life, Parish Activites & Events

An update from Andrew BrownOur Pastoral Associate

Over the next few Sunday's wecelebrate some really importantLiturgical feasts.

This weekend is known asAscension Sunday. Yes, it's alsoknown as Mother's Day, but pay heedto the Gospel reading. It's the lasttime Jesus gives us earthly commands before he ascends intoHeaven. Next Sunday we celebrate Pentecost Sunday. This is a renewedJewish holiday where we celebrate the reception of the Holy Spiritupon the Apostles in the Upper Room. We will also have 70+ teensreceive Confirmation that weekend with Bishop Sevilla. The following Sunday is known as Trinity Sunday. This weekend weemphasize the mysterious and divine nature of God as a communionof persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Yet in the midst of themystery we have God's revelation as love embodied through his fullyhuman son, Jesus. Then we have Corpus Christi Sunday, aka "Body and Blood ofChrist" Sunday. This weekend we place special emphasis on theinstitution of the Eucharist where we believe that Jesus is really, trulypresent in the Blessed Sacrament Communion hosts. This teaching, given to us by Jesus, distinguishes Catholics from all other Christiantraditions. Jesus just keeps showing up! He loves us all that much. Be sure to visit www.formed.org and use the parish code9FH34Z to learn more about these radical teachings andcelebrations.
